Can I resell items i purchase from my workplace if i get a discount on them?

Just wondering if I could buy stuff at my workplace with my employee discount and then resell it on a site like ebay. Is this legal to do?

If you can please provide legal references.

It may be grounds for termination if your employee discount is a "personal" discount. Check with your employer - while some places don't care too much, others consider this a privilege and benefit to you and only you - not for your friends and certainly not to be enjoyed by strangers on the internet.

Tread carefully - I've had friends who've been fired for using their employee discount on friends (either letting their friends pay, or reselling the items to their friends).

I don't believe there's any laws against this, however if you're in the US your employer can terminate you for whatever reason they choose, and if they feel you're abusing this benefit then they will terminate you.

That is up to the POLICY of your work. There is no legal references about what the POLICY of your employer can be in regards to this. I used to work for a retailer and if you were caught, you could be fired.

No reason not to as so many do it. BUT, before buying anything, check online to see if what you are interested in is already listed elsewhere, and at what price. You may be surprised.
