What is the penalty for knowingly making a false report of medi-cal fraud?

A person who knows the claim of fraud to be untrue but reports it anyway, wasting the state's resources of investigating a false claim can expect a punishment of what?

The person filing the false claim of 'welfare fraud' actually works within the welfare system (though not directly with this person and/or case).

I can prove that the person is in fact aware that the claim they have reported is knowingly false. The resources wasted makes me sick and rather than create more wasteful work, I'm wondering what exactly is the punishment for this financial and social services crime?
