Is it true that Muhammad and Jesus are equals in the Muslim world?

I was listening to the radio a week back and a Muslim guy was saying how both Jesus and Muhammad were both revered equally by Muslims since both were considered to be prophets of God. If this is true, then why do Muslims react so aggressively when Anti-Muhammed propeganda gets posted, but not Anti-Jesus posts?

Update:

Jesus is a Great Prophet of God

lol I'm betting that you didn't just set up that account on the fly.

Good question. But if Jesus (PBUH) was caricatured with a bomb on his head then we would surely react. If you read the Quran you'll realise that Jesus and his mother Mary ( peace be on them both) are respected a lot. for eg whenever muslims refer to them we attach peace be upon him/her to their name, but christians don't. If you read the Quran there's a chap- named after Mary chap-19 (sura-maryam). Allah has explained her birth and adolescent in great detail. and after reading that you will never question her virginity. You'll have no problem accepting and understanding Jesus's virgin birth. The first miracle performed by Jesus in the Quran is he spoke as a babe. He defended his mom when jews lay allegations against her. Jesus, the Quran says was respectful towards his mother. while in the bible he addresses his mom as "woman, what have I to do with you". He is ever abusive to his disiples in the bible "you generation of vipers". But the picture you get of him through the Quran and the sahih hadith of the prophet is of a gentle person. for eg he sees a theif stealing and catches him but the theif says "i didn't steal, then Jesus (pbuh) lets him go sayiing " my eyes must have lied to me".So we love the Jesus mentioned in the Quran. for details you can check these websites

Jesus is considered a prophet same as Moses or Abraham (both are Abrahamic religions). The virgin Mary is also widely revered in Islam and is Jesus but he isn't seen as a son of god in the way christians see it.

I guess muslims just have a soft spot for Mohammed since he is the one who "brought" Islam to them. But many also do not like any anti-Jesus comments but they're drowned out by the many christians here.

It's funny that both Islam and Christianity believe in Jesus while Judaism does not. Yet, christians support jews while ignoring the muslims for the most part.

Md is a false prophet. God did not send him at all. The Bible is God's book. quran not needed. Jesus finished His work for man's salvation, by dying on the cross for our sins. so no Muhammad needed for the world. Perversion of the Gospel 6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; 7 which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed! 10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.

They believe that Jesus was a prophet, but that Mohammed was the "seal" of prophets. They venerate Mohammed above all else. Consider the Muslim shahada, it is

"There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet"

Mohammed has a special position in their religion since he came up with it. They have to follow his "Sunnah" and not the "sunnah" of anybody else.

Of course Jesus (pbuh) is loved and respected by Muslims as is any of Gods prophets. I defend Jesus (pbuh) as much as I do Muhammad (pbuh) but people worship Jesus (pbuh) and we dont interfere with their faith its their business. But when someone is derogatory to any of Gods prophets Muslims speak up.

Muslims think Muhammad was ``Allah`s`` last and greatest prophet. Even greater than Jesus Christ. In some Islamic countries you can be killed for insulting Mohammad.
