How can I find out if my bf is still married free of charge?
We moved to a new location and recently his ex wife got mail sent to our house. Considering she never even lived in this state to my knowledge it's odd that she got mail here. Maybe there's another reason for it besides them being married. But he has never presented proof of the divorce, and he got mad when i asked him too. Hmmmm?
I've known him for over 5 years, we split and he got married a year later. He has two kids now and one has cerebral palsy and the mom took off with another guy, out of my love for him and knowing the kids need a mother figure i came to help him out. I'm not some lame that doesn't know who i'm dealing with, I just have reasonable doubts about that part of his life. He is in the service and is an overall good man. Thanks for the responses that aren't talking S*&#!

In my county, all civil court records are free on the Internet. Search for "civil courts" with your county and state name. Then you can do a free search.

Most County courts actually have this information available online.
There are plenty of reasons the ex could have gotten mail at your house. My father-in-law used to get Costco coupons at our house and he's never lived in this state. But yeah, I'd say getting mad is your proof.

Call the county courthouse that they were likely to have gotten divorced and and they can tell you if there's a decree filed.
Him getting mad when you ask for proof is not a good sign.
(I did this once, gave a name and they sent me a free copy of the divorce decree via email)

JADE, Like you said, to your knowledge but you don't know enough about him or you would not be asking this question. next time be smart and ask these questions before you move in with him!!!
PS. i know you ask but the fact that you did not get any proof of divorce should have been a red flag!!!!

Just look on line under his name. All court records are open and free to the public. If you can't find anything and you still have doubts go to the court house and ask them to pull his record (agian this is free of charge).

Call the courthouse or go there and demand to know if this man is still married or is he has filed for divorce. You have a right to know this if you are dating him.

You can't get it for free. All court houses will charge an administrative fee around $5 or $10.

I think you can get a public record of the divorce at the country clerk's office.

Just ask him if you can't take his word for the truth what are you doing with him.
