No SATA Recognition Dell Optiplex Gx620 with winXP?

I have a dell optiplex gx620 (not the form factor one, the full case model.) and i recently Re installed windows XP on it. but XP doesnt have native sata support, so i had to set the SATA HD to combine mode. then i did the installation, and ran driver checker and installed all of the drivers, took the HD off combine mode, and rebooted, and neither of the CD drives or the second HD are reading at all. what can i do??

Update:

Ummm.... well the disk I have for XP is Streamlined with SP2, and i already have SP3 downloaded. and i switched the floppy disk drive with a card reader, cuz floppys are obsolete

Sounds like you're installing XP before the service packs came out.

Not easy but can be done.

    1. Burn Sata drivers to a floppy.

    2. When installing windows xp, it will ask you to load 3rd party drivers.

    3. That when you insert the floppy for it to load the drivers for Sata.

If you get your hands on a Windows XP SP1 or later it will have all the drivers already on it.
