Isn't the healthcare bill a form of elitism?

For those who support the health care bill, are you calling your representatives and demanding that they enroll in the same program? If you aren't, then aren't you supporting a form of elitism, something that liberals and Democrats loathe? And if you aren't calling them, do you really hold their lives in higher regard than your own or your families?

The dems refused the public option for themselves and their families - it is not good enough for them personally. All politicians hold themselves in higher regard to the rest of us peons....that says it all in my opinion.

Government representatives wouldn't need the bill, as they not only get health insurance but also would be too wealthy to qualify for it.

Republicans tried to pass a bill that would put congressmen on the same public option everyone else gets, Democrats shot it down.

no- I think you have completely misunderstood the point of public options, or just conveniently ignored it as many of your comrades seem to like to do.

It's so money and ability to get a plan are not the only factors in you getting care. The point you made makes no sense.

Because it isn't being forced upon us. If I have coverage, I won't have to give it up. So why should I expect them to? A public option would simply give those who couldn't get coverage with private companies an option. No one said it was the best, it's basic. People with good health care right now won't have to switch to it.

No its offering health insurance to 46 million uninsured.

Yes I wrote a letter to my congressman and my living senator.

Obama WANTED to give Americans the same insurance as Congress. Your REPUBLICAN representatives nixed the plan.

Hmm, interesting question. I don't consider myself (D), but you may have them in 'check', so to speak. Whether or not it is 'checkmate', I don't know.

Though I often wonder... what happens when someone wins a Y!H political debate? Do peoples' minds change? Or are we so confident in our own beliefs that no change is possible?

lonesome, you seem to be confused. It's not, "people who have more deserve it". The mantra is people who have EARNED more deserve it.

Perhaps a liberal socialist can't see the distinction.

If it was really elitism it would be a plank of the Republican platform, people who have more deserve it, if you have more, you earned it, isn't that the conservative mantra? Getting health care to those who don't have it is anti-Republican, but not elitism.
