If people are said to be guided by what they call the holy spirit then what's your moral conscience used for?

and who is to say that the Moral compass we have is not built into us.

who is to say that the Devinne has not given us a set of laws to follow.

That some times there is a disconnection from the internal source and only human desires are in control.

In my search for “THE ANSWER” I went though from the oldest (Chinese) to the youngest belief systems.

In all I found a thread of simplicity that it seems everyone misses.

I find the human loves to take simple and make it complicated.

Here is what I have boiled down to its simplest form.

Yahweh gave us a soul

Yahweh communicates to us through the soul.

Yahweh provided, through the soul, love and strength continuously.

Yahweh had given us the living word that resides in us.

Soul is love

Soul is strength

Soul is pure

Soul is eternal.

Through experience I know this.

The Love fills us and keeps us from wanting

The Strength allows us to over come our human desires and face the situation life gives us.

The belief system we chose should guide us to stay connected with our souls.

The conscience is that ultimate tap on the shoulder when we make decisions for better or worse. For example; You just walked outside and kicked the hell out of your next door neighbours cat for yowling at night. When you go back inside, you question yourself on the grounds of morality. Your conscience hopefully would make you remorseful for your actions.

The Holy Spirit is something that we gain through learning about God and His only Son, Jesus. By gaining this knowledge we have opened our hearts and minds to god and through this action we are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Conscience and the Holy Spirit are two very separate issues and can be misconstrued to be the same. Even a murderer has a conscience but, may not necessarily be filled with Holy Spirit until he/she has given their heart to God. There is a saying: "God can't mend a broken heart unless He has all the pieces."

I like your reasoning to a point. You have to admit some people have their consciences all screwed up. Jeffrey Dommer (yes I know, I have no idea how to spell his last name) for example had a completely screwed up conscience. Our consciences need to be trained to do what is right, and even then the outside influences of today's world can warp them quite a bit. The holy spirit is only there to help those who truly appreciate that help and seek to have the consciences put in-line with God's will.

My religion teaches that everyone is born with the "light of Christ" inside them. This just means that they have good in them, or their moral conscience. However, when you are baptized and confirmed a member of my church, you received the gift of the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. This not only helps influence righteous decision making, it can give personal inspiration, it can give feelings of what to do to remain safe or happy. This is what I have found. Hope it helps. =]

It's all about finding your governing authority. Not about a conscience that cannot be trusted.

When you understand your governing authority in your life, you can logically say "According to my belief system, the absolute truth to this situation says I do X."

That applies whether it is holy spirit, atheist, or anything...

With that in mind, the society you live in can be your guiding authority and unfortunately it often is......and we all know that cannot be trusted. Those who are misguided or do not understand themselves will find that they are guided by cultural norms and society as a whole in a generalized sense.

The Holy Spirit communicates with us through the conscience.When we sin ,the conscience bothers

us and let us know that we have sinned and needs to make amends(to be forgiven).Hence we go to the person\s we have wrong(God or individual)
