Pentecostalism is a renewal movement within Christianity that places special emphasis on a direct personal experience of God through the baptism in the Holy Spirit which is evidenced by speaking in tongues. Pentecostalism is an umbrella term that includes a wide range of different theological and organizational perspectives. As a result, there is no single central organization or church that directs the movement. Most Pentecostals consider themselves to be part of broader Christian groups; for example, most Pentecostals identify as Protestants. Many embrace the term evangelical, while others prefer restorationist. Pentecostalism is theologically and historically close to the charismatic movement as it significantly influenced that movement and some Pentecostals use the two terms interchangeably. Furthermore, Pentecostals are theologically diverse with some groups being Trinitarian and others Nontrinitarian. (Source: Wikipedia).

Similarity with the Roman Catholics?
The Catholic Church has the Charismatic movement. Here are links:

First, there is not just one Pentecostal church. There are numerous. Doctrinally, Pentecostals trace their lineage back to the earliest days of Christianity. All through the past 2000 years, there have been people with the Pentecostal experience. Unfortunately, an apostate church usually branded them as heretics.
Pentecostals have organized at various times in history, but not under the title Pentecostal. There was such a church in Abyssinia (Ethiopia) for centuries, later destroyed and replaced with the Coptic Church. Modern Pentecostal churches trace their roots to the year 1901, when the Holy Ghost was outpoured at a Bible school in Topeka, KS. Within a decade, it had spread across the US, and began to spread around the world.
There are many Australian Pentecostals, but again, with numerous Pentecostal denominations, it's hard to give a number.
As far as similarities with Catholicism, that will vary between the Pentecostal denominations. Many Pentecostals believe in the Trinity, and baptize using the same formula as the Catholics, although they baptize by immersion. But other Pentecostals are Oneness (Apostolic), believing that Jesus is the One God in flesh, rather than one person in the Godhead, and they baptize using the formula found in the book of Acts, that is, in Jesus' name.
It's easier to find differences: No Pentecostals use statues or rosaries, none pray to anyone other than God, none have priests, nuns or popes, none believe in transubstantiation.
Edit for Ben Yeshua: Montanism was not Pentecostalism. It was the earliest form of trinitarianism. Montanus first taught a trinitarian Godhead in the mid second century. Pentecostal teaching goes back a century earlier than that. Acts 2:4, to be exact.
Edit for Pastor Art: The percentage of Oneness Pentecostals is higher than 5%... After all, when the Apostolics broke from the Assemblies of God, fully 1/3rd of the A/G ministry was Apostolic. In addition to many smaller denominations and independent Apostolic churches, there are the large denominations, United Pentecostal Church International, Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ, and Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.

When and where did the pentecostal church begin?
50 days after Jesus rose from the dead in Jerusalem. See Acts 2:4
Who was its founder?
Jesus Christ Who sent the Holy Spirit to His followers. See Acts chapter 1.
Under what conditions/circumstances was this Christian community begin?
They were all in one place and all in one accord. See Acts 2.
How many AUSTRALIANS are part of this Christian community?
Lots and lots but I can't tell you exactly.
Identify at least two similarities and differences between the pentecostals and Roman Catholics.
Both believe Jesus died and rose again.
Both believe in the *Trinity.
Pentecostals, I am one, believe that the authority in the church today is God's Word, the Bible.
Pentecostals, I am one, believe that Jesus did everything needed to pay for our sins.
Catholics believe that the authority in the church is the Pope.
Catholics believe that they must work to earn their salvation, cooperating with God.
All of the differences between Catholics and Christians on the following two links also apply to Pentecostals who are for the most part, Bible believing Christians.

* About 5% of the Pentecostals in America don't believe in the Trinity.

hard to answer but i'll try to answer.
I would sugest u to google some more detailed info, as it is not easy to give a quick answer to such a large subject. But there is no such thing as pentecostal church and there is not a founder either.
here are some sugestions. read about: pentecostalism, pentecostal movement, carismatics, etc.
it is hard to establish differences between both because one is a religous institution (catholics) and the other (pentec..) is a movement that basiclally believes in the speaking of tongues, which u can slso search online. lastly dont listen to the jew above because he don't know what his talking about.

Just a moment, Lilymay and I'll give you an unexpected reply:
I took a while, but Pentecostalism actually began in the second century and was called Montainism. It can be found in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montanism ; but for the quote that sounds like the "laughing in the spirit" of the Toronto experience:
".While “reviling the church international” and considering themselves “happy as they rejoiced and exulted”, they “spoke in a frenzy and unseasonably, and in a strange manner…” (Schaff, Ante Nicene Fathers, Volume VII, “Asterius Urbanus”, p 336).
As for Catholicism, well it is Imperial Rome baptized to Papal Rome. There is a lot of history for you to know, but the Bible code proves Rome is the abomination of desolation that Jesus warned us of: http://abiblecode.com/ or read that publication as an e-book at http://revelado.org/thetimeoftheend.pdf
Blessings, Ben Yeshua
Source(s): BTW, Tertullian fought Mountainism for years, but finally fell to its deception and became a Montainist. Yes, I did say you wouldn't like my answer! - DR.Lv 51 decade ago
The word you mean is Protestant. They were protesting something about the Catholic Church. The word they found out was Grace.Religion and grace don't get along very well. Martin Luther found that out.

Both are incredibly icky.
