Shoujo is a Japanese word that translates to girl, normally a teenager. In anime/manga it's a demographic, or target audience, which is aimed at teenage girls; they tend to have cutesy art, lots of romance and whatnot, very little violence (if any).
Harem is a genre where the main characters are a guy and multiple girls, where each of the girls is a potential partner for the guy and he has to choose between them (though a lot of harem have inconclusive endings where the guy never picks one).
Arc isn't really an anime term, it's used in stories and stuff too; kinda hard to describe, but it's something like a chapter; say the protagonists go out and fight a bad guy, which lasts for 4 episodes, before returning to their base; that would be one arc. Then after another bad guy attacks and they go kill him for 5 episodes; that's a second arc. A way of dividing different events.
Ecchi translates as something like "pervert", it means lewd or sexual content such as panty shots, showing a lot of cleavage, characters accidentally seeing each other naked or kissing or something, etc
Anime is short for animation, it's the tv form. Manga is like comics, written form.
Japanese pronunciation is different to English; all of their consonants (apart from n) are followed by a vowel. Dorama is the "romanized" (way of writing Japanese with English alphabet) version of Drama; basically a Japanese soap opera. So It's more a genre than anything.
OVA stands for Original Video Animation, it's a short series of episodes (or single episode) that isn't based on existing media.
Some other terms you might like to know:
Other demographics; Along with Shoujo, we have Shounen (teenage guys), Seinen (adult males), Josei (adult females) and kodomomuke (children).
Yaoi means homosexual guys, Yuri means girls. Shounen-ai (boy love) and shoujo-ai (girl love) are the lighter&softer versions; generally if you hear one anime is shounen-ai and another is yaoi, the yaoi will have kissing and possibly sex whereas shounen-ai won't, however the terms are mostly interchangeable.
Mecha is a popular genre where the characters pilot giant robots, generally for fighting purposes.
Reverse Harem is the same as Harem except there's one girl and multiple guys.

- "Shojo" actually means "female virgin" or "young girl".
"Shojo manga" is usually manga targeted at girls from ages 10 to 18.
- "Harem" is when there's more of one gender than another. Normally, it's when there are more females than males. Alternately, a "reverse harem" is when there are more males than females.
- An "arc" is the extended story line in episodic story telling media. For example, in Naruto, the series goes through several arcs, such as the "Sasuke Retrival arc".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Story_arc
- "Ecchi" is a word we use in the anime/manga world to explain anime and/or manga that have vague sexual content, but not the real thing. In Japan, the origin of the word is uncertain, but is attached to the Japanese pronunciation of the Roman letter "H", which usually stands for "hentai".
[In case you were wondering what it is, here's a link for "hentai": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hentai]
- The distinction between anime and manga is that anime is the TV or Internet version of manga. It's animated and colored in, and usually less detailed than the manga would be. Manga is the comics version of anime, and is read right to left. It is usually more detailed than the anime, and the only part of manga that is normally colored are the two covers.
- "Dorama" is actually a form of Japanese drama TV shows, so technically, yes, it is a show.
- "OVA" stands for "original video animation". It describes Japanese anime that was made specifically for home video viewing.

Hope I could help. ^^

Seinen is a type of manga that is targeted for an older male audience, generally mid teens and older. Josei is targeted to adult women and is basically the female counterpart to seinen. Harem has to do with a main character that has several other love interests (like 1 guy in a harem of girls...) I'm not sure what the other term is that you're looking for, but there's a link to where you can read the full articles on types of manga, starting with yaoi and shotacon. Hope that helps!
