Honda Accord clutch spins when I engage clutch what is it?
I have an 87 Honda Accord and when I engage the clutch I can hear a grinding/scratching noise that smells and you can hear it spinning. It makes these sounds whether pushed in fully or barely touching the clutch. When you release the clutch it continues for 10-15 secs with the above. What could it be?

It sounds like one of the damper springs has worn its way out of the cage that holds it in place. It seems pretty common with Honda clutches - that's why we had to replace my son's Integra clutch. Scratching or grinding is a good description for the sound.
Check out the "Springs popping out" section in the source.

You might need a new clutch. It seems to me that the clutch is slipping, possibly due to being worn down. The car is 23 years old so if it's never been replaced, it's probably worn down. There is a possibility that some adjustments might be all that's necessary, but I've replaced a lot of clutches and I seriously think it's worn down and needs replacement. 1/2 ton trucks cost about $1000 to put a new clutch in, so yours should be way under that price range.
