Craigslist verification question?

I have a craiglist posting account. Recently I've gotten several notices purporting to be from craigslist asking me to verify with a credit card. It says they'll cancel my account if I don't, and I'll lose all my listings! Now I've heard of phone verification (PVA), but never credit card verification. It even asks for my security code. I emailed craigslist days ago to ask it this was legitimate, but haven't received an answer.

Is this real or a spoof? Has anyone received anything similar?

that's a scam, never give out your credit card number to anybody unless your on a secured website, craigslist isn't going to cancel you out.

Just got the same thing while responding to a job posting, this is def. a scam. After responding I received an email saying a girl wanted to hook up tonight but I needed to be verified...for a job posting-I think not.

PVA verification is must these day but they ask before you post any ad , but in your case it sounds as scam.
