Questions for anyone who has had a miscarriage...?

Well, I was told at a routine ultrasound when I should have been 10 weeks the baby had stopped developing at around 7 wks. Then the bleeding started this past Friday and was very bad on Monday I guess when I passed everything and am still spotting but it has slowed down to what it is at the end of a regular period. My doctor said that it was up to me but he didnt think that I needed an ultrasound to make sure everything was outhe said if it would just be a inconvenience for me i probably didnt need to do one so i said ok. Should i have went to make sure? He told me to just do blood work at the end of this month. He said I need to wait to try again til at least 2 to 3 regular cycles. The reason is because my uterus will still be soft and I could miscarry again. Now I read so many things about people who say their docotrs say only one cycle. What is your experience how long did you wait to start trying again? Did you conceive how long did it take? Any more miscarriages? Also how long did it take for the bleeding to totally stop and when did you get your first period back? thanks!

what!!! that makes no sense man!! you need to have a dnc done after an ultrasound to make sure there isnt anything left inside of you! it could cause risks of possible pregnancies if you dont have it all out.. some women get pregnant right after miscarriages, some dont for a while, i think the safest is to wait 4 weeks after a misscarriage to begin to try again though, that way your body has time to heal, but make sure you tell him you want a dnc done!!! i cant believe he said that!

My doctor had the same advice. If you start getting a fever or pain, then go in or at least call, but your body is designed for this and it works just fine most of the time. The blood work can tell him if you have any infection. Good for him. So many doctors push for D&Cs and those actually can cause damage, but they are real money makers for the profession. If you have bleeding or spotting that doesn't end after 6 weeks, then go in.

I did not try to conceive after my miscarriage because I had other health problems and chose to work on those. That was several years ago and we are going to start trying after I get vaccinated for H1N1. Waiting 2 or 3 cycles is generally the most recommended advice and reasonable. Up to you.

edited to add: some posters actually believe that you must have a D&C after a miscarriage. Total garbage.

DO NOT attempt to set off a miscarriage. Any procedure would critically damage your female friend and even kill her. Plus, it would fail and also you would have a youngster with beginning defects from ingesting bizarre matters like pine extract. If she is pregnant and the 2 of you don't desire to hold the youngster, discover a nearby unfastened sanatorium to participate in an abortion, or positioned the youngster up for adoption.
