Are you reminded every day of how stupid the human race is? Religion is poison?

Not one day goes by that I'm not reminded how stupid humans are.

- War

- Bashing

- Greed

- Corruption

- Discrimination

- Religion

Today's reminders....

A girl who murdered another girl to know what it felt like, racism at my work place, homophobic ranting - discrimination and probably more to come.

I used to have such marvel for the world. Each day I would wake up happy and think how amazing the world is. Then I became an adult and I now see it for the shyte it truly is. I used to be quite spiritual in fact was Christian but I was quickly 'abandoned' because I was gay and according to God I'm off to hell, just a little bit unfair since I didn't chose to be gay and no matter what I can do I can't change (years of trying).

Do you think religion poisons society?

The Church has a very loving and kind facade but if your different - Good luck to ya.

Update:

I try to ignore it but I can't, it's too 'in your face' and I still care about this world even though it's moving backwards it would seem.

Update 2:

You absolute self richeous ****

    Yes, it is sad.

Unfortunately, i find the most debilitating and hurtful attitudes and actions coming from those who do these things in the name of "religion."

The christian religion enjoins all of us to "love our neighbor as ourselves." Now if only all Christians would at least try to do this. Unfortunately all too often people are raised in ignorance and bigotry under the cloak of "religion." All too often people disregarding truth and empirical reality, adopt dogmatic positions and moral injunctions which actually bring harm, and unnecessary pain and suffering to others. Unfortunately too often so-called Christians do everything they can to remain ignorant and deluded in an effort to ensure themselves of a "surety of salvation" in the erroneous context of their self-serving 'religion.'

This is not true faith, but self-delusion. This is not true love but a selfish catering to ones bigotries.

My own way to deal with this is to make an honest attempt to bring love and hope into this world -- and trying to understand as much as possible about this world and about the human condition so that how I express this love brings true good rather than harm. I am far from succeeding at this but at least I try.

One a positive note -- I truly believe that society is very gradually getting a better understanding of just what is meant by "loving their neighbor as themselves."

    It's actually pretty sad.

I hate to look at the world through such judgmental eyes, but there is no denying the massive amount of ignorance that plagues humanity. While I am of course not perfect, I simply wish more people could think for themselves at least somewhat.

Religion can definitely be a poison, but it can also be good. It's more of a tool, and it depends on who is using it.

Religion is not the fly in the ointment! The ointment is putrid to begin with.

Society was already 'poisoned' by the Adamic nature in everyone; religion is just another perversion among many, stemming from that sinful carnal nature.

Source(s): Jer. 51:17 "All mankind is stupid and knows nothing..." I Corinthians 2:16 " ... But we have the mind of Christ."

Since joining Y!A you learn how many secret ********* are on here and how they can't get that society doesn't and can't always agree with them.

Honestly, I think half of the members have no lives and no partners nor are married...just come here to jack it while talking about religion.

No, I remind myself everyday that fear drives those kind of actions, and someday those thoughts and ideas will become a thing of the past, though old habits die hard.

Religion is one of the poisons. Just thinking that people actually want to be deluded and to delude other is just proof that we are emotional cripples. Lame........I know.

I am reminded every day at how stupid humans are, and how bad religion is a poison. . .

but believe me, there is good religion out there, you just have to search for it with all your heart.

We may be stupid and poisonous, but God is not.
