In the case of vegetables and fruits, all varieties are suitable for a diabetic meal plan. The most important key to remember is that the slower the digestion of the fruit or vegetable, the better. Two ways to ensure this is to have adequate fiber, such as eating the peel of the apple, and to combine the food item with a small amount of protein and/or fat.
I think one of the best foods for a diabetic is Plain Ol' American Chili. Beans , tomatos , onions. and low fat ground beef. WoW ! Forget the crackers!!!!!

Type 2 diabetes, usually referred to as adult onset, is when your body produces insulin but can not use it properly. This type can be treated successfully with the right diet and exercise in most circumstances. Read here https://tr.im/W89qR
If blood sugars are not kept under control at some point insulin will probably be integrated / oral medications are also available. People with diabetes can live long, happy lives but must be diligent in their care and make sure you see your endocrinologist on a regular basis.

All beans are excellent for diabetics. Green beans are a vegetable, but all other beans (black, kidney, pinto, etc.) can be treated as a whole-grain starch.
If you are eating a vegetarian meal, beans count as a protein. So eating beans (or tofu...soy beans!) with another whole-grain starch, such as brown rice, is very healthy.

Vegetable is not just a medical term, it is a cooking term. So the qualifications to become a vegetable are not very coherent, which is why we have cases like the tomato: people argue both ways.
