Whats is causing my car to make this weird noise? Help!?

I have a 96 sunfire and lately it's been making kind of a rattling/grinding noise when I make right turns at medium-higher speeds and when I brake harder going downhill. It seems to be coming from the drivers side. My muffler makes noises too because it was a little loose. Is my muffler making this noise, or is it the brakes or somethig else? Please help!

Your description sounds like the brake pads are worn out. Brake places will inspect that for free. Don't put this off - the rotor is probably okay to turn now (because it only makes grinding noise when you brake hard) but will have to be replaced if it gets much worse. When the grinding is constant during braking the brakes are seriously unsafe.

It could well be your muffler system making the noise. If it's loose the tailpipe can be hitting on the underneath body somewhere when you brake or turn.

Get the muffler fixed and see if the noise goes away. When you get it fixed the the repairer about your noise and get him to check if the muffler could be making it.

Hard to really tell without a physical check. We're really just guessing here.
