How do you get Word 2007 to save in .doc instead of .docx?

    Select "Save as" from the Office menu and then select "Word 97-2003 document"

    click symbol (logo of Microsoft Office 2007 on the left), then select Save as Word 97 - 2003 Document

    you save it in the 97-2003 form of word, not the 2007 form.

    so when you save it, go to "save as" and then pick "word 97-2003 document" to get .doc instead of using "word document" which will give you .docx
