how do i put this on my resume?
i worked for the same company twice. do i put it on my resume in two places, or do i use my fisrt start date and my second end date? there was about a year and a half gap between the two times of employment.

Depends if you had another job between those times. If so you would list like the sample below:
Company A, title, January 2009-present
Job description
Company B, title, January 2008-January 2009
Job description
Company A, title, January 2007-January 2008
Job description
if you didn't work, you can list as below, but be prepared to discuss the reason for the 'gap' in employment.
Company, title
January 2009 - present
January 2007-January 2008
