What do you call the mechanism in a slide show that affects...?

the timing and flow of movement between each slide? I understand it is different for a slide projector as opposed to on-line slide shows but other than "timing change" I couldn't think of another word. By any chance does anyone know what the technical terms for that is please? Thanks.

intervalometer like the device that releases bombs from a plane. Can be preset to space slides and also the length the slides are shown.

Source(s): Followed the complicated mechanical device used on WWII bombers to the same function using a 555 industrial IC.
