How much should a used engine cost?

I'm having problems with my engine in my 2003 Dodge Durango SLT and was wondering if anyone knew how much a used engine would cost?

Okay, the 4.3 V6 is no reference at all cause its a GM motor & Dodges & Fords are usually pricier. Plus, your Durango isnt 10 years old. Call a few junkyards in ur area & theyll probably have a working motor that was in a totaled Durango. Its going to cost u thousands in parts & labor. Prolly low thousands tho.

It depends entirely on the size of the engine. A V8 hemi is going to be twice as expensive as a V6. It also depends on who is going to install it.

If you are doing all the labor you can probably pull a used 318 motor from a junk yard for about $350 - $500 and drop it in.

If you expect a shop to do all the work expect a minimum of $2500 for a used engine install.

That depends on a lot of things. It depends on how old the engine is, how many miles are on it, if it's from the same model... depending where and what you get it could cost fron 200 to 20000.

it depends where you get it from, what size engine, which model of engine (normal aspiration or forced induction), the condition its and if you have to pull it yourself or not. As a reference, i bought a 4.3L V6 used, its 10 years old and i had to pull it myself out of a junkyard, it didnt run until i changed the fuel injectors out and put new coils on. i spent about 700 on the motor and 300 in parts, so thats about 1000 bucks right there.

Try attarco, they can deliver the engine to your mechanic usually around $700 with labor if you do it with a mechanic and at a shop.

Somewhere between $2500-5000 including labor and installation.
