Jehovahs Witnesses..Why do you call yourselves Christians ? Which Bible do you find to be more accurate ?
Which Bible verse/s taken from the King James Bible or New International Version do you claim as your own ? What is your favourite verse and why ? I'm interested in knowing, hence the questions..
debbiepi..of course you believe in your book..it is the book of your organisation..contrary to your beliefs though..it is not a Bible that contains the words of God, only men, for if it contained the truth you wouldn't be called JW"s but Christ's Witnesses.
grnlow..So what is a true JW ? And how do you personally know that the NWTHS is a reliable translation ? The truth is you don't but you accept it as gospel when in fact it is far, from the truth of God's Word. It is a book, a novel, for want of a better word, that contains no truths about who Jesus Christ is.
bar_enos...You claim that all JW's are Christians because you believe in and obey the Lord Jesus Christ ..Where and when ? Are you born again? Does His Spirit live in you?..
Romans 8: 9, 15-19 says this; .if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he or she does not belong to Christ. And by him we cry " Abba Father'.the Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children Now, if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His suffering, in order that we may also share in His Glory.
Revelations 21, JW's wait faithfully for earth to be restored to 'Paradise' yet the word of God tells us that this earth will first be destroyed and it will be replaced by a 'new heavens and a new earth with no seas' for the old earth and heavens had passed away.
So unless you have the Spirit of God in you, which promises eternal life, , Paradise, or heaven as it is also known as, will not be yours .Read from a standard recognised Bible,(Not NWTHS) Isaiah 13:6 and 24:1-3 to know how this earth will be destroyed for God has promised to 'cleanse' this earth by fire.So where will you be ?
God does not lie.
Leslie H..Your last line says..It's a promise from God, for the future of humans, living in Paradise.
Yes, if we are talking about Heaven but until this earth is cleansed totally from sin, and Jesus Christ returns as King, the reality of paradise as JW's believe is simply not happening, ever.
Remember, God does not lie..
Heaven is for all who put their trust and belief in the Son of God. He is not a creature or a spirit being invented by man. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and End of all things. After Armageddon, He is King and Lord of Lords. It is He, who has told us that He has gone to prepare a place for us, that where He is, we also will be, that He is coming soon to take His people out of what is coming onto the earth..it will be the day millions disappear from the planet and we will reign with Him for 1000years. God calls us blessed.
NIV and NKJV are best for translations and clear understanding, they are used by discerning Christians., worldwide.
Thankyou.
Isaiah 43:10-12 is God talking to His people, the Hebrews. the Israelites.
Not anywhere, in any Bible and other books, does it talk about Jehovah's Witnesses being the Jews of God's chosen people. Until 1881, no one had ever heard of the Zion Bible Tract Publishing Company.
God says blasphemy is an unforgivable sin.. but then again you've passed it off as 'religion' for years..at the end of it all those who started your organisation will kneel too before the One whom they mocked, and if they did not know Him, in spirit and in truth, judgment will be set and they will find themselves in a hotspot for a very long time, for Jesus Christ holds the keys to Heaven and Hell and it is to Him that you will give an account of your life too. If your name is not found in the Lamb's Book of Life, Paradise or heaven will not be your final resting place. If you believe in Him, pray and ask for wisdom and understanding.
Thank you to all Jehovah's Witnesses who answered my question.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians because we believe in and obey the Lord Jesus Christ, and we accept and acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord, Savior, Redeemer, and the only way to God.
That is how Christians are identified in the Bible. The Bible does not identify Christians on the basis of our popularity with or in the world. Indeed, the Bible says that Christians are not of the world, are no part of the world.
Jehovah's Witnesses use several different Bible versions in our personal study and our witnessing, and we can establish the truth from whatever Bible version others may be using.
Just a few of my favorite verses from the KJV and NIV:
"And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them."-- Exodus 6:3, KJV
"That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth." -- Psalm 83:18, KJV
"Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert." -- Isaiah 35:5, KJV
"Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand." -- Romans 14:4, NIV
Then, there are these verses from the American Standard Version of 1901:
"Ye are my witnesses, saith Jehovah, and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he." -- Isaiah 43:10, ASV
'Symeon hath rehearsed how first God visited the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name." -- Acts 15:14, ASV

"claim as your own ?" The Bible belongs to all humans, not to a few.
As for which we use, I counted two publications on my desk. One used 28 translations while another used 79. We use any translation that makes a point the clearest. When talking to others, we use whichever translation they use.
We generally use our "go to" New World Translation. Sometimes even it is not the best for t5he moment. For instance is Hebrews 10:25, "Do not forsake the gathering of ourselves together." (NWT) Now, the New Jerusalem Bible renders it as, "Do not miss meetings." Plainer I believe.
The NWT is though, a reliable translation. Instead of guessing as many translation have done at Exodus 28:19 about a mineral rock used there, the NWT used the Hebrew word "lash'em" stone. Rather than make something up, it chose to go with the Hebrew as no one today knows for sure what the rock is now.
As for why we call ourselves Christian, what would you call one who follows the Christ? Who when Jesus gives an order, obeys?
Now today, I have been answering several questions. Among the principles and orders Jesus gave that I have used in my answers have been his orders to preach and teach and to notify all the people on earth about God's Kingdom government and what it will do for the earth--both planet & people on it. (Matt. 24:14; 28:19-20)
Then about the need to keep the congregation spiritually clean. Most Jehovah's Witnesses came from all types of backgrounds, some not acceptable to society. Before they became true JWs, they had to change. This is shown by 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. Look at what some of them did before. Verse 11 shows that is what they WERE, but made changes. A few verses earlier, 5:11-13, Paul points out continuing would not be tolerated. The KJV says, "to not keep company" with this person. In all caps, this KJV says at 13, "Therefore, PUT AWAY FROM AMONG YOURSELVES THAT WICKED PERSON."
Much uproar is made over JWs "disfellowshipping" or putting people out of the organization while other religions claiming to follow Jesus allow the same kinds of people to continue. (As long as the check clears.) The Bible shows why we do this. We obey the Christ. Not just mouthing the words as some religions do, but doing the work. Behaving like a true Christian should according to the Bible.

The definition of Christian according to the Webster American Dictionary: A believer in Jesus as the Christ, or in the religion based on the teachings of Jesus.
We call ourselves Christian because we follow the teachings of Jesus as written in the Bible. Many disagree with what we believe, but that doesnt change the fact that we are Christians.
Which Bible verses do we take from the King James or New international version of the Bible and claim as our own? I dont quite understand that question. We use the New World Translation, as most people know.
What is my favorite verse and why? There are so many. I think that the ones that promise a future for righteous people are my favorites. Psalms 37:9-11, 29 promise that the earth will be a paradise and the righteous will live forever upon it. Revelation 21:3-4 is the promise that we will no longer cry for dead loved ones because death will be removed forever, as well as sickness and pain.

I call myself a woman, because I am one. I know what a woman is, and what it is, is what I am.
We call ourselves Christians, because we are.
We are christians, because we follow the teachings and revere as our savior, the son of God, Jesus Christ.
Some have the mistaken idea that you must believe Jesus and God are the same person to be a christian, but that is NOT what Jesus taught.
They have invented the idea that to respect Jesus as the son of God, as he claimed he was, is to disrespect God, the father.
If this is true, then Jesus, himself, was being disrespectful, because he told his followers that he knew nothing of his own initiative, but only what he learned from his father. He said that some of the things his disciples wanted to know, he didn't have the answers to-only his father knew.
You can learn the truth from ANY version of the bible. Just as the catholics prefer the Douay version, and many other faiths prefer the King James, we prefer the New World Translation. It's modern english, and we appreciate that the divine name of God-Jehovah-has been restored. Other bible translations, in the preface, will acknowledge that it was removed and replaced with 'LORD". If it was originally in the scriptures, and was removed, common sense dictates that it was there in the start, for a reason, and that reason is one of the purposes Jesus had for coming to the earth, the sanctification of his fathers' name.
My favorite verse is Revelation 21:3,4
"God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away...write, because these words are faithful and true."
It's a promise from God, for the future of humans, living in paradise.

1) Jehovahs Witnesses..Why do you call yourselves Christians ?
In all fairness - Jehovah's Witnesses believe
* that Jesus was born from a virgin
* that Jesus is the only begotten son of God
* that Jesus died for the sins of all mankind
* that Jesus was crucified
* that Jesus rose from the dead
* that Jesus ascended into Heaven
* that Jesus is the only mediator between the Father and man - that is, the only way to salvation
Given these beliefs, I don't know how anyone who calls themselves Christian could claim that the Jehovah's Witnesses are not.
2) Which Bible do you find to be more accurate ?
Most, if not all, will answer, "The New World Translation".

Why do you call yourselves Christians?
Because we follow Jesus Christ's footsteps and believe that salvation is through him alone.
Which Bible do you find to be more accurate?
Leaving that argument to the "Bible experts", I say "Use WHICHEVER Bible you prefer, the message is the same, just make sure to apply what you learn"
Which Bible verse/s taken from the King James Bible or New International Version do you claim as your own?
We accept the entire Bible as God's Word, so all verses are "our own" lol
What is your favourite verse and why?
Psalm 72:16- lots of food to look forward to in Paradise.
I'm interested in knowing, hence the questions..
Glad I could help and have a nice day.

you wanna provide an explanation for extra totally how precisely GOD grew to be God? Because the LDS Doctrine has the ones solutions! And yep - within the opening used to be the Word (Jesus) and the phrase used to be with God (Yep Jesus used to be with The Father within the opening).... as we too consider. Actually we consider that ALL MANKIND will reap a measure of glory, due to the fact afteral Jesus stated "All that the Father hath" may also be ours...... They have the solutions and WE comply with CHrist - ample stated! Perhaps YOU do not notice that earlier to the Counsel at Nicea the TRINITY WAS NOT mainstream christian doctine????? SO do not EVEN use that as a rationale. Mormons are some of the such a lot Christian following, residing and devoted humans I have ever identified or met - doctrinally and the way they LIVE.... so simply quit already! I imply rather?

they are not Christian since they don't believe he is "the way, the truth and the LIGHT" He proved himself to be the living WORD which was in the beginning and in the beginning was god and the word was with god, and the word was god.
they believe he's just someone who receives divine knowledge and prophecy. Sorry but true Christians have always been those who believe he is not just the son of god (which no finatic JW can claim) but that Jesus is the INCARNATION of god almighty Yahweh. I don't care if this question was aimed at only JW's but you need to hear the truth.
Would you stand for it if one of your Grandparents were (are) world famous and people who called themselves fans just thought he was someone who cameo's and Mocked and impersonates the original works of your grandparent? I don't think so.

A "Christian" is a follower of Christ, someone who believes and copies our Lord. Jesus himself said that he was "the faithful witness" at Revelation 1:5. Also, Jesus was born a Jew, and of the Jews God said, at Isaiah 43:10, "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen:". (King James Bible) You will find that the NIV says the same thing.
So Jehovah's witnesses, by copying Jesus and bearing witness to Jehovah God's name and purpose, are obviously true Christians.
Best regards,
Mike

We call ourselves Christians because we are.
We follow Christ's footsteps as closely as we can.
We prefer the New World Translation of the scriptures but any translation of God's Word is fine with me (although some have spurious passages & verses).
They all have the same message.
