Question for Americans: Does the UK really have a special relationship with the USA, or it a myth?

Our government frequently mentions our so-called special relationship with America, I think this dates back to World War 2. But I wonder if Americans heard of this, or is it, as I suspect, long out of date and no longer exists?

We definitely have a special relationship between America, and the UK. While the revolutionary war was a point of contention, much of our culture is influenced by England. Look at the constitution of the US, similar to JS Mill ideas in the treatise on government. The magna carta was also influential in our founding documents. Not to mention the fact that a large % of early settlers to america were English. We have similar ideas about business, finance, and a multi party system. We held strong together in WW2 to defeat the Nazis and we have backed each other ever since.

I'm British, and the answer is no. If we support the USA we are special. If not, we're not at all special and, according to some US jackanapes a while ago, just the same as all the other countries in the world. Just remember that we gave the world so much, and we are not to be equated with, say, some fly-blown African cesspit. Your president says if we defy him over leaving the EU we shall be at the back of the queue/line for trade deals. We need new friends.

i do no longer hate united statesa. and as a British guy or woman, i became disgusted with what my government did to Iraq and Afghan. in spite of the shown fact that I do think of that my united states of america might desire to pay interest via itself problems and not carry on with others to wars that may not earnings each and every guy or woman long term. i do no longer have faith we ever had a particular courting apart from the fact that my government acted like lapdogs for years and that i think most of the British persons are ill of that! I even have travelled to many places and been asked why the united kingdom is like united statesa.'s domestic dog, it somewhat is basically some human beings's concepts btw. the difficulty is that some human beings on YA tend to generalise too lots and think of that basically because of the fact one Brit dislikes united statesa., it potential they are all accountable of it. I even have considered that some human beings at here basically dislike every physique who isn't from their united states of america in spite of the shown fact that they are basically a small component of the international's inhabitants and should no longer be taken actually. i'm hoping that the united kingdom and united states of america has a sturdy courting of equivalent cost as we the two have lots to grant devoid of being the international's police. Peace and international kinfolk are the techniques forward nonetheless for all the international and not conflict and hate and xenophobia!

The people who "own" america are the same who "own" UK. The same families that own the federal reserve (not part of U.S., owned by Rothschilds, rockefellers, warburgs etc.) own the banks in england as well. "give me control of a nations money supply, and I care not who make the laws" mayer rothschild

So since the fed controls the money, they control the agenda. Since they control money in U.S. and UK, thats why where ever we go, they go.

If you think about it this way, america is kind of still a colony of the british empire.

It's hard to say, but I don't think it is a myth. My very best friend lives in England, born and raised there, and he often tells me about how the brits consider themselves our brothers and sisters across the pond.

It may be just his perspective, but I think it's true.
