Is it okay to put in a new tampon when you just took one out?

This is a dumb question I know ..but people say don't leave a tampon in for more then 6 hours because of tss. So do you think it would be okay to take out a tampon then put another 1 in right after? Why do people tell me this if it is okay? thankx ~Nicole~

Yes, that's fine. Leaving the same tampon in for more than 6-8 hours can cause TSS because it holds all the bacteria, but removing it and immediately switching it with a new tampon is totally fine. It's a good idea to wear a pad at night though, if you're not going to wake up in the night to change your tampon, depending on your flow.

yes, you can totally put in another tampon right after, what people mean when thay say don't leave a tampon in for more then 6 hours because of tss, they mean the same tampon. You can change them and then its perfectly ok.

The reason you don't leave a tampon in for more than 6 hours is because they get dirty and can poison you. It's perfectly fine to put a tampon in right after taking one out because the new one is clean.

Of course! You just can't leave one in for more than 6 hours because the bacteria on the old one accumulates. But a fresh one eliminates bacteria.
