answer: there are only a handful of ACTUAL prophecies of the Jewish Messiah.

The Christian concept of a messiah is VASTLY different from the Jewish one. Jesus could not be the Jewish Messiah by any reckoning except Christian rewriting of the Tanakh.

G-d does not become human, G-d does not have offspring, G-d is not part of a trinity

The Jewish Messiah will be human, not divine

the JM will NOT be worshiped

    * The Sanhedrin will be re-established (Isaiah 1:26)

    * Once he is King, leaders of other nations will look to him for guidance. (Isaiah 2:4)

    * The whole world will worship the One God of Israel (Isaiah 2:17)

    * He will be descended from King David (Isaiah 11:1) via King Solomon (1 Chron. 22:8-10)

    * The Moshiach will be a man of this world, an observant Jew with "fear of God" (Isaiah 11:2)

*****In other words - this must all be accomplished in a human lifetime*****

    * Evil and tyranny will not be able to stand before his leadership (Isaiah 11:4)

    * Knowledge of God will fill the world (Isaiah 11:9)

    * He will include and attract people from all cultures and nations (Isaiah 11:10)

    * All Israelites will be returned to their homeland (Isaiah 11:12)

    * Death will be swallowed up forever (Isaiah 25:8)

    * There will be no more hunger or illness, and death will cease (Isaiah 25:8)

    * All of the dead will rise again (Isaiah 26:19)

    * The Jewish people will experience eternal joy and gladness (Isaiah 51:11)

    * He will be a messenger of peace (Isaiah 52:7)

    * Nations will end up recognizing the wrongs they did to Israel (Isaiah 52:13-53:5)

    * The peoples of the world will turn to the Jews for spiritual guidance (Zechariah 8:23)

    * The ruined cities of Israel will be restored (Ezekiel 16:55)

    * Weapons of war will be destroyed (Ezekiel 39:9)

    * The Temple will be rebuilt (Ezekiel 40) resuming many of the suspended mitzvot

    * He will then perfect the entire world to serve God together (Zephaniah 3:9)

    * Jews will know the Torah without Study (Jeremiah 31:33)

    * He will give you all the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4)

    * He will take the barren land and make it abundant and fruitful (Isaiah 51:3, Amos 9:13-15, Ezekiel 36:29-30, Isaiah 11:6-9).

  • why do people get messiah and the Christ concept confused??? They are totally 2 different things. In the Hebrew bible or what Jews call Tanakh, there are many messiahs. A messiah means one who is anointed, as kings of Israel or Judea were anointed with oil as part of their "approval" by God to be a king over the people of God. A messiah is a HUMAN servant of God. God is not a messiah, God is God. And actually, God needs no messiah, whatsoever since God needs no king, no messiah, no people, no earth, etc. So the only 2 answerers, before mine, who have even the slightest idea what a messiah is, especially what a Jewish messiah is, are D Aravah and mainlee. They have provided you with clear and unambigous references and not personal beliefs "parroted" by those with little insight into Judaism or the Hebrew bible.

Isaiah 44:1 "But now listen, O Jacob, My servant, And Israel, whom I have chosen.

Exodus 4:22, God declares, "Israel is my first-born son."

The people Israel - collectively - is God's son, servant and light to nations, not one man.

Isaiah 42:6 "I am the LORD, I have called you in righteousness, I will also hold you by the hand and watch over you, And I will appoint you as a covenant to the people, As a light to the nations,

God he is the king and the redeemer (savior), and his kingdom is Judaism. God is NOT a man, nor is he defineable.

In the parable of Jonah, if Jonah is really Judah(ism) and the giant fish is the symbol of the giant fish religion, it explains Israel's mission and the only reason he suffers - for not fulfilling that mission to perform Tikun Olam - heal the world.

When Israel begins to teach, people will quickly convert and we will enter a new age of permanent peace and never know war again.

Daniel 12:7 (the end of this age of tribulations will happen) when the breaking of the power of the holy people comes to an end, then shall all these things be fulfilled.

Sheol means 'grave' in Hebrew, NOT 'hell' as in the mistranslated old testament. Demon means imaginary god, and devil means bad or nasty person. The world sees Judaism through xtianity's warped lenses, but xtianity has no idea what Judaism is.

    1. Daniel 9:25

Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

Daniel 9:24-26 (in Context) Daniel 9 (Whole Chapter)

    2. Daniel 9:26

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

The very first mention of him is found at Genesis 3:6, but there are two hundred prophecies in the Hebrew Scriptures concerning him. Every one of their fulfillments are recorded in the Greek-Aramaic Scriptures . . . Many of the rest of those Scriptures are either quoted or referred to in the following:

Daniel 9:25 (New King James Version)

That from the going forth of the command

    To restore and build Jerusalem

    Until Messiah the Prince,

    There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;

The street[a] shall be built again, and the wall,[b]

Christ could only be the messiah after the anointing of his suffering The Messiah originates in the Garden of Eden. The lamb that was slain points forward to Christ. His shed blood is the anti type of the Lambs blood. Messiah means anointed and Jesus anointing occurred at his death and resurrection allowing him to become our appointed Savior. Messiah occurs in the old testament in Psalm 2;2, Psalm 45;7Psalm 89;20, Isaiah 61; 1-3Daniel 9;25.

the Jews are looking for the first advent of Messiah and christians are looking for the second advent where he comes as a conquering King. Anointing was for kings and priests psalm 133;1-3 It talks of the unity of the oil as it pours down and covers us all in Christ

    You gotta be kidding !

Do you even own a Bible? It's in the section called the Old Testament.

I think you probably have the internet.

    Do a search.

I'll bet you are a product of public schooling.

You can google "Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament" and you'll get a list of which passages are about the Messiah. A couple of my favorite ones are:

    Isaiah 9:6-7

6 For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

    And he will be called

    Wonderful Counselor, [b] Mighty God,

    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace

    there will be no end.

He will reign on David's throne

    and over his kingdom,

    establishing and upholding it

    with justice and righteousness

from that time on and forever.

The zeal of the LORD Almighty

    will accomplish this.

    Isaiah 53

    Who has believed our message

and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,

and like a root out of dry ground.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,

nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

3 He was despised and rejected by men,

a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.

Like one from whom men hide their faces

he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he took up our infirmities

    and carried our sorrows,

yet we considered him stricken by God,

    smitten by him, and afflicted.

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,

    he was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,

and by his wounds we are healed.

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,

    each of us has turned to his own way;

and the LORD has laid on him

    the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed and afflicted,

    yet he did not open his mouth;

he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,

and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,

so he did not open his mouth.

8 By oppression [a] and judgment he was taken away.

And who can speak of his descendants?

    For he was cut off from the land of the living;

for the transgression of my people he was stricken. [b]

9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,

and with the rich in his death,

though he had done no violence,

nor was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,

and though the LORD makes [c] his life a guilt offering,

he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

11 After the suffering of his soul,

    he will see the light of life [d] and be satisfied [e] ;

by his knowledge [f] my righteous servant will justify many,

and he will bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, [g]

and he will divide the spoils with the strong, [h]

because he poured out his life unto death,

and was numbered with the transgressors.

For he bore the sin of many,

and made intercession for the transgressors.
