Where do Popular Christians get the notion that the Bible is infallible and never been mistranslated or?
been tampered with?
There are no scriptures that claim such and their haven't been any prophets or Apostles since John the Beloved finished the Revelations.
Bonnie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EVERYONE KNOWS THAT JOHN THE BELOVED DID NOT COMPILE THE BIBLE, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JOHN WAS SPEAKING OF THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS. IF YOU THOUGHT ABOUT IT YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND!
The Bible (Give Hope) - Uh, you are actually assisting me, believe it or not. And that says nothing as to the Bible being infallible only saying that we need prophets and apostles in our day.
Pastor Art - yet you do not list them. And history is accurate? Hardly. There is plenty of history saying they have been tampered with. As well as prophets.
dieseldo... hmmmm, you're right.
I'll think I'll go to the Politics section. I know I'm speaking on deaf, hardnecked ears here. And I probably have a beam in my own eye that needs removal. Thanks for the reproof!
surfari - oddly enough you are right.
yet it seems most churches go after the doctrine that doesn't match up and base their churches after them instead of becoming unified.

They get the notion from the Pastors that preach that. It is the very first thing they say about themselves. As you point out, the idea itself is not Biblical at all, but they have made it a foundation of most Protestant churches as it sets the stage for their interpretations (or misinterpretations) that follow.

The Apostle Paul said he preached the cross and Jesus crucified.
When you begin to study the Bible you understand why.
My assumption is that people are taught on the things that are not controversial Sunday after Sunday.
We don't hear sermons on some scriptures seem to contradict each other.
A friend of mine went to a brilliant Biblical scholar with a list of questions he had about conflicts in the Bible when he was in seminary. The questions were never responded to and the list of questions were kept forever. He was a family friend from Dallas Theological Seminary. It is possible that he just got busy and didn't find the time to respond.
I don't think the Bible has to be perfect and I do not believe we were ever to worship the Book of the Lord over the Lord of the Book.
Not everyone would agree there have not been prophets or apostles since John. Many believe that the priest craft just wanted to control revelation . You might know about the Montanists who were ruled heretical and who cast lots for positions because Proverbs reads that "the lot is cast and it's every decision is from the Lord."
I don't know what you mean by popular Christians? Do you mean like the major denominations?
The Bible is full of error but God is still God . If the Bible was all we needed, why would we need to cultivate a relationship with God?

The original Hebrew and Greek Bible is the infallible word of God. The Bible is one of the best preserved literary works ever. The Bible has also been a best seller for centuries With many many translations around it would be difficult to develop a bad translation and no one realize the error. There have been many mistranslated Bible translations. Some that come to mind are the Jefferson Bible and the TNIV.

These are typically "King James Version-only" Christians.
They believe the Bible was fallible until the Protestant reformation, ironically enough.
And I think they do it as a challenge to the Catholic Church, an institution that has always held honest scholarship to a high esteem, along with faith. Unlike KJV-Only-ists, good scholarship matters in Catholicism.
Check out www.newadvent.org the Catholic encyclopedia, they always put their critics objections in with every topic, sometimes there is no rebuttal, and sometimes they even concede on points brought up by critics. That's because the Catholic Church is about truth + reason + faith, they are not just a "faith alone" operation.

It's to bad that everyone is trying to disprove the bible and saying all kinds of things are wrong, because of this or that word from greek to hebrew and so on. Too bad that we don't question are own history books as much as we do the bible. we take God out of the public places and schools and we can't pray in public, we might be brainwahing the kids. Why should 'In God We Trust" bother so many people .People from all over the world come here to escape horrible things going on in their country. They say they come here for freedom of religion and all kinds of things.. And now here we are still argueing about if the bible is real or not!!! I don't get it.

Generally Christians cite 2 Tim 3:16:
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness
----
If God inspired it and is infallible, then the scriptures must be infallible. Presumably, if it was important enough to God that He had to inspire it, He would make sure the scribes and translators got it right when passing the words on to future generations.

Because they believe that the Holly Spirit can not let the translator make mistake. And if it wasn't (The Holy Spirit didn't work) then, ask yourself how can the new not popular Christians can exist, it is just like a child who haven't any parents? Is it logical?
And older the translation is, better it is.
If the older was wrong, how about the newer? where come it from the? Directly from heaven? Or ....

Revelation 22:19 -"book of life" and the last six verses of Revelation 22
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21
Only the King James Version is the closest translation to the original written in Greek and Hebrew.

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Anybody who believes the Bible is infallible will most likely refer to the fact that there have been tens of thousands of copies of the original Bible discovered from around the world. They are all very old. And they all say the same thing.
This would seem to indicate that the Bible is very accurate.
Is this true? Do you believe it? Only you can decide this for yourself.
