Are there any philosophers who have committed or attempted suicide?
Or talked in any depth about depression and suicidal thoughts?
If so, who?

Gilles Deleuze committed suicide by jumping out a window, but he doesn't talk about suicide.
One author who does talk about suicide (but didn't commit it) is Albert Camus. His (dense) book _The Myth of Sisyphus_ argues that we should not commit suicide and even though there is no God, we should learn to create in the "midst of the desert."
Camus's _The Stranger_ does not talk about suicide, but is a nice novel that deals with nihilism (the claim there is no meaning).
I'm not sure who else talks about suicide, but you can start there.

Definitely. The most famous was Albert Camus, although his wife tried to hide the fact that it was suicide for a while. He not only wrote a lot about suicide, he considered it the most important philosophical question. Another famous case was Arthur Koestler, who said that only the person who commits suicide has control over at least one aspect of his life, the time of his death. There were plenty of others.

Nietzsche didn't commit suicide, ******* dunce.
But to answer the question, Socrates comes to mind when speaking of suicide.
Quite sure he drank hemlock after he was sentenced to death by the Athenians, it was pathetic really.
He was convicted of not recognizing the gods, and corrupting the youth.
Athenians were absolutely irrational, and couldn't conceive a single moral thought in their small, bewildered minds.

no philosopher, at least great philosopher, to my knowledge has committed suicide. Of Nietzsche didn't, that just stupid, nor did Camus.
Writers will committ suicide, but philosophy is first and foremost a defense mechanism, we philosophise to acquire knowledge, but before that to make us feel better oabout ourselves. "I inquire into things because I value inquiry for its own sake" that value that underlies the activity is what justifies it.
