Is 'entire' two syllables?

    Yes "entire" is two syllables - but not every, even though it would seem to be 3 distinct sounds. Distinct sounds do not connote a words that has "syllables".

    "Entire" is definitely two. "Every" when pronounced carefully is three, but if you need a two-syllable word for your poem, you can write "ev'ry."
