Well yes in a way. Beer itself has no fat. And neither does really any alcohol. But anyways, alcohol has high sugar content and is loaded with calories. SO when you drink 6 beers, imagine drinking like 10 cokes. Not too good is it? Well your drinking a ton of calories when you drink, that is why you get fat is because you will have increased your calorie intake for the day, and dont work it off. If you burn those calories by lets say, running, or weightlifting (weightlifting burns more calories then cardiovascular exercises) then you wont get fat. So in general, if you going to go drinking make sure you workout the night before or something. I do, and i drink still, and i am pretty athletically built.

Alcohol has about 7 calories per gram, which is more than the 4 calories from the carbs it was made from. Furthermore, your liver converts ethanol (alcohol) to something called NADH+, which is used by the body to provide energy or is stored for use as energy at a later time. The storage form is fat, so if you have a lot of NADH+ floating around in your system, such as when you've consumed alcohol, then it's going to be stored as fat.

So yes, drinking does have strong potential to make you fat. I suggest you really put some effort into staggering. Oh and avoid the kebab house on the way home from the bar.

Beer has calories, but not tons of them. If you sit around and drink all day, you gotta eat a decent bit to. So that would eventually give you that 'beer gut'.

Assuming you just drink for fun and not all day and night, and you actually get some sort of exercise, drinking isn't going to make you fat.

Getting fat is all about taking in more calories than you expend over the long term.

The problem with alcohol is that it is loaded with calories. A single shot of vodka that is 40% alcohol has over 70 calories. Therefore a simple highball can easily have 150 or more calories in it, even if you use diet soda. Drinks with liqueurs or sugary ingredients can easily top 500 calories.

If you're drinking and trying to watch your weight, you should use a site like http://www.drinknation.com,/ which has calorie values for tons of alcoholic drink recipes. Look at a White Russian - (http://www.drinknation.com/drink/white-russian) for example - 224 calories!

Drinking water will not help you lose fat directly. Consuming water can make you feel less hungry and therefore you can eat less. Since our bodies are made up of mostly water it is a good idea for everyone to drink a sufficient amount of water each day. Drinking plain water is the healthiest way to keep the body hydrated without the sugar and additives of soda, coffee, etc.

Most alcoholic beverages are high in carbohydrates, as well as sugar. Just like non-alcoholic drinks, too much consumption of carbohydrates and sugars can lead to weight gain.

As with anything this will depend on your metabolism, as well as how much movement/exercise you have in a given day, as well as eating habits and overall lifestyle.

Everything in moderation is the best answer one can live by (not that I do).
