Pro-war folks: Do you support being taxed to fund the war(s) you support?

Let's simplify it to this: A war can be fought (and likely won) if everyone agrees to be taxed specifically to fund it. If we don't agree to be taxed to fund it, the war will not happen, and will not be "won." Which way would you go with it?

In the event that you would choose not to be taxed, how do you distinguish yourself from those lazy liberals who support their own agenda so long as somebody ELSE pays for it? How do you suppose a nation of people with your "don't-make-ME-pay" attitude on this matter will ever contain its government's spending?

I was never in favor of the wars, but since we're in it I believe we should pay for it. I feel like I'm already being taxed for it anyway because I have to pay more for school now that the government doesn't seem to be able to fund things that actually benefit citizens. I think having a tax specifically for the war would be a good idea. We also should be taxed for the health care soldiers need when they come back, so that they can be appropriately treated for illnesses and injuries caused by the war.

I don't think it's a matter of supporting the wars, it's a matter of supporting the troops sent to war on whether we agree to be taxed to support their efforts to make our world a better place for everyone. We all may not agree on the reason they are sent to war zones, but we must agree on their support. Even though I feel we are over taxed already, an additional tax to support our troops would be acceptable to me. We will never control government spending until "We, the people" have had enough and take our country back with another American Revolution. Maybe that is what needs to be done because government spending and taxing is getting out of control and WE are the only ones that can put a stop to it. But, we also have too many citizens that don't care and until we are completely united, a revolution by "We, the people" could have disastrous effects if we fail.

If, and this is a big if, we needed to be taxed specifically to fund the war, and that was the only way we could win, again a big if....I would be perfectly happy to pay higher taxes. Of course, this is a false premise.

The lack of funds, or the claim of the lack of funds, for this theater of operations has more to do with the fact that the Obama government is bankrupting our country to pay off his base and supporters. Obama, in 11 months has amassed a larger deficit than all of the presidents before him, combined. That's some good change. We had no problem funding the war while Bush was in office..

The senator who proposed taxing people specifically for the war is a renowned anti-war activist....so is it surprising that he is trying to use a tax to destroy support for the war.

I think alot of people fail to understand that we are going to fight this war with the islamists. The only question is; are we going to fight it over there, or are we going to fight it here.

Americans love to carry a big stick. Unfortunately, Americans haven’t had to pay for their decisions for years. Witness the national debt. Paying for anything the government does should be immediate. War, heath care, whatever. If the people were presented with the bill on a per person basis that everyone could understand our country would stop making all theses insane choices. As it is, we make decisions on emotion rather than common sense, it is destroying this country.

Well, I'm not really "PRO War" but I would support a tax that would fund a necessary war.

Spending in general is way out of control. Other countries around the world should pay their fair share for global conflicts. I imagine they're too busy spending all their money on their socialist health care programs.

I already pay a ton of taxes, if I get to pay extra for the war, you can pay my share that goes to welfare, section 8 housing and foodstamps. At least this way, I know my taxes will end someday, you will pay until you drop dead.

Yes - as long as I don't have to pay for the unemployment, food stamps, welfare and other things that increase when more income is taxed and taken out of the economy.

The elites that benefit from war should pay for them, but then we wouldn't have any war.
