Help me cure my sore throat please?

I have had a sore throat for about a day and a half now, it's gotten so bad that it hurts to swallow and I have to tilt my head all the way up for my saliva to go down nicely (without pain). As of a couple of minutes ago, I crushed up bout 5 asprin and put it in a glass of warm water, then i gargled most of it and spat it out. After that, I put 1 asprin in a glass of warm water, gargled it, and swallowed it (I did it once, will probably do it 2/3 more times). Is there anything else I can do, at home, without buying anything to cure my sore throat? Please help :D.

Honestly, after all the sore throats I've had:

If it is a BAD sore throat the best thing is to take codeine or darvocet for it. That is if it is really painful and you can get to a dr. to get a prescription.

If it just a MODERATE sore throat, then two Advil every 4-6 hours, and keep taking them every 4 to 6 until your throat starts to heal. Cepacol lozenges will numb the inside of your throat if needed.

All the other suggestions are good, but are more for the general illness itself. Gargling with aspirin won't help much and won't help but for a short time, just like the saltwater thing. For pain, stick to the painkillers.

Always remember, if your sore throat continue for more than 3-4 days and you start getting a fever, you have to go get checked for strep. If you have no fever, your chances of having strep is almost 0.

Cures that wouldnt involve you leaving the house: HOT TEA. Preferably mint or peppermint tea to soothe your throat. If you don't have any tea just boil some water and sqeeze lemon in it or something.

Some people also reccomend gargling hot water with ground cayenne peppers in it. I've never found this effective but if tea doesnt work its worth a try.

Take the reccomended amount of aspirin (No more) and it should help a bit.

Lie down and don't talk too much

If you have halls candy at your house take those. If not buy some tomorrow.

Other than that, drink lots of water and gatorade and maybe buy some extra strength aspiirin tomorrow (and only take the reccomended amount).

    Feel better! =D

Managed to cure my sore throat in a very short time by buying a medium sized jar of pickled onions in sweet vinegar, chewing slowly and drinking small amounts of the vinegar with each swallow. May slightly aggravate stomach ulcer sufferers but also helps ease those with symptoms of gaseous Irritable Bowel Syndrome. This remedy is not as damaging to the throat lining as gargling salt in my opinion - and decidedly a more pleasant experience. Seriously cured my sore throat within 2 days. Recommended.

I have heard elderflower drinks work very well. I had a horrible sore throat and I found that I was sleeping with my mouth open. Sleep with your mouth closed and feel better soon!

    Alternative Medicine Remedies:

    Food Therapy.

Allicin, the compound that puts the pungent odor in garlic, has antibiotic and anti fungal properties that can heal many types of sore throat, says registered pharmacist Earl Mindell,R.Ph., Ph.D., professor of nutrition at Pacific Western University in Los Angeles and author of Earl Mindell's Food as Medicine and other books on nutrition. Take two or more cloves, crushed or whole, at the first sign of a sore throat and continue eating two or more cloves a day until your symptoms clear up, he says.

Raw garlic is the most effective, says Dr. Mindell, but it can cause gastrointestinal upset. He suggests baking and stir-frying as other ways of getting garlic into your diet.

Sage is another good choice for a sore throat, according to Dr. Varro E. Tyler, Ph.D., professor of phramacognosy at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He says to chop two teaspoons of fresh leaves then pour boiling water over them and steep for ten minutes. Strain to remove the leaves and cool before using as a mouthwash, he says.

Drinking warm milk to which a pinch of turmeric and a teaspoon of sugar are added also helps to soothe your throat

Take 1 tsp fresh ginger juice, ½ tsp honey and a pinch of turmeric. Take this mixture thrice a day.

Gargling with warmsalt water is very healing, dont swallow it. Something that has always worked for me is pineapple. The bromin in pineapple is supposed to help. One remedy calls for just chewing on the junks of pineapple and swallowing that juice but not the whole piece. Others dont mention the not swallowing of the piece of pineappe.

Try chopping some ginger, then boil with water. Cool it down a little ( must be warm ), put a little rock salt... Gargle with it... Have tried it a few times and it worked on me.
