can u put a "blow up mattress" onto a slatted bed?

I have a spare room with a slatted bed base in it, no mattress as of yet as i dont need to buy it until well into next year. I have an air mattress/blow up mattress that i use for when guests stay over but with the spare room being taken up entirely with the slatted bed base i have no other floor space to put the blow up mattress. Can i put it on the bed base without wrecking the mattress?

Update:

the slats are 2 inches apart, so there are alot of them

Sure thing...Simply get a board that fits to go over the slats. MDF or Plywood 1/2" is fine..for ease of handling if this is a double or larger have 2 pieces cut and hinge them. Unfortunately the slats alone are not supportive enough for a blow up.

If this is a true slatted bed and all of the slats are 2 inches apart or less you are fine. If not you will need to deck out the the slats with plywood, OSB, etc.

If there are enough slats, if not lay down a piece of plywood and cover it with a blanket then place the mattress on top this should protect the mattress from the wood and support it.
