Drill it into your head. Special Forces is Army and that is that.

There is nothing wrong with the Marines in any way. But your instincts are somewhat correct. Marines will smack you down and have somewhat better initial training but that will be that for most. Small service and no where to go from there.

But the deal with the Army is you then get to go to some school later that gives you the serious training. So you be a Marine and sit fighting for a slot or you go Army as there are slots worldwide.

There is a reason why the most people switch amongst all services go Marine to Army. Kids join up thinking the commercials are cool and then go "hey wait, I can get all of that other stuff in the Army"?

Stand at attention and hear my words. Should you choose not to do so that will be a problem for you and you will figure it out later.

But when you join any service..... welcome to the family. You won't regret it in a milllion years.

So many lies and misconceptions have been told here. The marines do not see more action than the army. I would argue that they aren't better trained either, but merely different. Their mission is nearly identical in the current state of things and training is constant. I would have to say a soldier from 101st or 82nd airborne is easily better trained than your average marine. If you want special forces than you need to join the Army. The Marines have force recon and that's it. You're right marines don't have that much. Their funding is the left overs from the navy which doesn't leave them with much. Marines are trained to make due with what they've got while the Army are like the spoiled brats. Neither is better than the other. A rich kid can kick a poor kids a$$ and vice verse. Funding is how I tell them apart.

Where do you get this "Marines have way better training" stuff from? You ever trained with either of them? And how can Marines possibly see more action? They deploy for like 6months usually... Army deploys twice as long.

Past: Army fought in the European campaign as well as the Pacific(where they island hopped more than the USMC)

Marines only fought in the Pacific

Current: Marines are used to support the Armys larger objective. The push into Baghdad was led by the Armys 3rd Infantry Division. with Marines attached for support. In fallujah, the Army took it first. Gave it to the Marines, they lost control, 1st Cav and Big red one was sent to help the Marines get it back.

The Army is the ONLY branch with special forces... the rest are special ops.

Army infantry training is longer than USMC bootcamp.

USMC bootcamp has to cater to pogs aswell.

    Army infantry training doesnt.

I've met with a few other individuals from different branches. I've been told the difference between the 2 special ops depended on where you are stationed, as you said the army offers different MOS options and provides for more locations to be deployed to. Also, Delta often draws from Army GB's since they are stationed in the same base (provided you actually want to stick with combat orientation). You might also consider SEALS, but that's another complication as well. Seems like you are stuck on joining so i salute you, good luck.

The Navy and Air force would be sitting ducks without us "Cannon Fodders" in the Army and Marines. Don't pay attention to idiots who trash talk other branches to somehow try to make themselves superior, fact is All branches have their missions and they all play an important role in the defense of our Nation. Hey go Army Special Ops, go for what you want.

Being a marine is tough, I say so even if I'm not one. Considering marines see more action than the army. Marines have better training yes, but it's pretty tiring, I've been to one of those scout boot camps or whatever they call it. Some dude we call the drill sergeant told us being a marine is WAY tougher than just plain boot camp.

My brother was in the marines to give him that push and later got his electrical engineering degree. Now he makes over $200k a year as an engineer. I guess the marines got him to where he is now if they didn't kick him to be determined.

Just do what is right for you and make sure you select something that will benefit you in the future.

The Army has better SF than the marines. You can also do Airborne school, Ranger School, Sniper School, and other stuff that the Marines don't have to offer.

The marines and army are troops used for cannon fodder. If you want a career then it should be the Navy or the Air Force. The AirForce has the very best schools and options.

Nobody can really tell you what you should join, that's up to you. The answer is kind of in your question; if you're looking for more of a selection, then the Army is for you. If you really don't care but want the experience and training, then the U.S.M.C. is the way to go. Do what you want to do, and don't regret it!
