Question about electricity?

I need to know how much voltage comes out of an average apartment home. Can someone help me?

Update:

Also, how much voltage comes out a standard electrical socket?

Update 2:

Sorry - I meant "in" a standard US apartment

out of a standard electrical socket? 120 volts

any socket, whether in a house or an apartment, will have this standardized output.

Voltage does not "come out of" anything' It is a power ability to move electrons to another position, within the wiring of the home. The higher the volts, the more power behind the "socket". No "voltage comes out of an average apartment home". The voltage is stagnant in the wires, at the sockets, to be usefull energy when the circuit which feeds the socket is "turned on", as at a switch to a light, etc., and then the energy is forced out by the available voltage at the socket to do the work requested. The energy, forced by the voltage, stays within the wires, and does not "come out of an average apartment home".

Assuming this is in the US...

Nominal voltage for any wall outlet, apartment or house, is 120 volts. The exception is large appliances like electric dryers, which have a different type of outlet that supplies 240 volts.

    Voltage does not "come out".

And your apartment outlets are the same as the "standard".

PS, you may see it listed at 110, 115, 117, 118 or 120 volts. It's all the same.

If your question is regarding voltage in a United States apartment home, you're talking about a system of 2 hot wires, a Neutral, and a ground wire, where voltage between the two hot wires is about 240 VAC and voltage between either hot wire and the Neutral is about 120 VAC, which is of course, the voltage at a socket -- about 120VAC between the two prongs in a socket. If you're asking about power demanded (in KiloWatts) of an average apartment, check out the NEC (National Electric Code).

Standard voltage in the US is 120 volts... this is what you get from a wall socket also.
