Seeing lots of red dots?

They're perfectly spaced, and I see them really well in the dark, but I can see them in the light if I try. I asked my optometrist and he said that since it's in color, even when I close my eyes, that it's psychological. Does anyone know a name for this? Or a reason?

That's really close to what I see when I close my eyes.

Update:

I searched google and found out that I'm not the only one (of course) and that there are people with different or multiple colors too. Nothing on there that I could see as far as specifics though.

Update 2:

Also, they don't disrupt my vision at all. I've had them for as long as I can remember (back to 7 years old), and they never prevent me from seeing properly.

have you been lokking at any bright lights or looking at a pic like that for a long time,

if yes then thats the cause of it if no go to your doctor because it may be a sign of blindness or slow blindness that will be starting to affect your eyes.
