The child custody and support laws are not one sided. I've seen many cases where the father has Primary Physical Custody and the mother has partial custody and pays support. Normally, however, if the child is of a "tender age" the father is the one that is working and the mother is not and therefore retains custody of the child and then the father is the one who has the job and pays the support for the child. Now that more women are working, the custody and support orders reflect this new demographic and your statement has no validity.

Because the only side that matters is the kids.
Therefore, child support payments are based on a percentage of the physical custody of the kids, not legal custody.
For example, both parents may have equal rights regarding the kids, but if the kids spend 80% or the time with the mother and only 20% of the time with the father, then that is what the child support is based upon.

Because they are written with the best interest of the children.
So completely ******* the non-custodial parent is OK.
Like how in this case when it's predominantly men getting screwed it's all about being unbias but as soon as there's a law that screws women or a minority we have "Affirmative Action" to correct the "prejudice".
Maybe we should pursue an federal Affirmative Action law that states the average primary-custody for a given state needs to be 50/50 +/- 5% for mother versus father.
Otherwise that state's custody rules are empirically bias and sexist.

the laws aren't tailored to screw the guy as much as possible but to make sure the child is provided for as best the parents can afford. in most cases, the children live with the mother, although they do sometimes live with the father full time. The child support may seem like a lot, but the amount is calculated according to both parties salaries and the average monthly expense of takign care of the child which may include: daycare, paying a mortgage, food, etc. it adds up!!

I feel you honey, but I think it varies from state to state.
I took my husband to court for child support b/c when I moved to Texas (we lived in NY) he refused to support them, so I had no choice. We had the hearing (in Westchester County, NY. I appeared telephonically) and he was ordered to pay $50 A MONTH! We have 3 kids and he has 2 from a previous relationship. He pays his other children's mother $170 a week for only 2 kids. The judge knew this, but somehow I got screwed!
See, it's not only men that get f*cked over.

Because the court system is more sympathetic to women and its sick! Men always get screwed, especially in the child support.
It took two people to make a child, 50/50 right? So why, when it comes to child support, is it 60/40 or 70/30? Makes no sense to me!
Even though I hate the system and think its completely unfair for the men there is nothing that can be done about it.

Because child support and custody laws don't care who's fault it is that the divorce is happening, rather what's in the best interests of the child(ren), who has raised them mostly since birth, etc.

Because he doesn't have a "mothering" instinct. The baby came from the mothers body, it belongs to her.
