Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Have you ever won an appeal with Yahoo Customer Service?

(Asked in this section because when I'm not being targeted I hold a TC badge here)

So yet again the trolls are smacking me about. Which is both amusing and frustrating, and I have to ask... has anyone ever actually WON a deleted answer appeal? Or is that just the illusion of an investigative process?

Particularly when I make the argument of being targeted by an online hate group (trolls, yeah I'm fudging the use of the word "group" because we all know trolls can't organize!) as the reason my answer was even flagged. Do I have a chance?

Also MP (mostly for the trans community & others interested) - Would it be gross or neat if I posted a link from my profile to a photo or two of my shiny newly reconstructed chest? Or is that just strange? :P

Update:

Well I've already gotten my first reply back of "oh sucks to be you, no reinstatement". The agent has copied and pasted the same darn script they always do.

What does it take to get a human answer from Yahoo? *sigh*

Jay I have many appeals in the past. A very frequent poster here in this section had her account suspended a while ago and see won her appeal. Her account was reinstated.

    EDIT

just after I answered this question I got a violation notice. I appealed it. if I get a response from yahoo, I will update this answer.

@ Leah your your answer was deleted on the same question that my answer was deleted from.

    Edit

I was denied on the appeal.

I have won a few appeals before. But when I was targeted by a troll before, it was someone in LGBT, not a typical "troll." Nice huh? So my appeals that I won were 100%, completely and totally, beyond reproach. This person just went through and tried to report ALL of my questions and answers with their multiple accounts.

Good luck. Hopefully you will have a chance.

EDIT: I do have to say I haven't appealed anything lately b/c any of the violations that I've gotten have been totally justified. :) I try really hard to be nice, but sometimes you just have to let people have it. And if I get a violation, so be it, it was worth it.

I have won both answer deletion and question deletion appeals; I have never won a account suspension appeal. And more often than not in the deletions/reported answers and questions, I lose, even when there is no question whatsoever that I did not violate Community Guidelines.

MP: It'd be cool to me.

Funnily enough, I have just had 2 q's deleted in the last 24 hours

both from this section, both were light hearted attempts at 'a humorous interaction'

but, points are not worth anything and I dont think i could ever be bothered to appeal

Yes, I'd say maybe 1 in 5 or 1 in 6 of my appeals for "Violation Notice" get accepted, and probably 3 out of 4 of my appeals for "Your answer has been reported by the Answers community" get accepted. Yahoo! admins seem to hate me. Like how my Level 6, almost Level 7 account got suspended one day out of the blue, with no reason given.

MP: I think it would be a little strange, but then again I'm not transsexual or homosexual.

  • I've got so many suspended accounts, I can't even remember all the names attached to them. After awhile, you just start to think of them like disposable razors. I don't care about levels, or points, or prestige. I just want to correct misinformation and help people. A LONG time ago, you actually got prizes for reaching certain levels. I forget when Yahoo! stopped doing that, but that was the only time I strove to reach level 7.

I only submitted an appeal once, 2 weeks ago, and I never heard back. I guess that means I lost, which doesn't make sense, I had full, solid documentation for my answer that the Mormons didn't like.

Hi Jay,,As you may remember I was the target of some haters recently. I sent in several appeal and eventually got over 100 points and several questions and answers restored. If you want I will send an e-mail with the exact details of what I did.

  • When I get "your answer has been reported by the yahoo answers community" notices, I often win them.

When I get "violation notice emails" sent out by the Yahoo people themselves, I never win them.

I've never won an account suspension either.

Also, it seems that the Yahoo higher ups seem to hate me too. They never let me get past level 5. If I do, all of a sudden EVERYTHING is a "violation notice email" and then my account gets suspended.

MP: I would LOVE to see your smexy new chest! :P

yes, I have. i rarely violate the TOS. when i do, it's to make a point and when those are reported, i accept the deletion of points.

when i am reported for something that isn't a violation, i always appeal, and i always win. if the first appeal doesn't work, i continue to appeal and if needed, make a phone call to Sunnyvale to straighten things out.
