Luke 7:28 "For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."

Nobody should reverence any mortal man. Jesus put a high score on John, who was distinguished only because he both preached His coming and baptized the Christ, something all other prophets could only dream of doing. Elijah and Elisha certainly out-performed him in miracles, but that was their lot in ministry, not John's. He introduced the Savior, the one to fulfill the law and prophets. But as you should plainly see, Jesus has even greater folks in mind. John only had a measure of the Holy Spirit upon him, so was limited as to promises afforded under the New Covenant in Christ. Believers after Pentecost have access to the full measure within them.

I honor all men and women of God. Certainly John the Baptist is to be honored because Jesus said that there was no greater man than John the Baptist. I honor all those that serve God. Of course this does not mean I worship any of them even in the least of ways.

He should not be idolized in anyway. He is revered for his ministry and his martyrdom. Some say he was the cousin of Jesus though only 1 Gospel even mentions this so it is likely untrue.

John's coming was also foretold in prophecy and is believed by some to be the reincarnation of Elijah

You don't seem to know the difference between idol and honor. Honoring someone is not idolizing them. Your terminology is inflammatory, since you know idolatry is a sin. St. John the Baptist is honored as a Saint for many reasons. He recognized Christ, even while both of them were still in the womb. He lived the life of a prophet, and taught that Christ was coming, in order to prepare people to receive Christ. That is worthy of honor. He sacrificed a "normal" life in the world in order to do God's will, and live in the wilderness to focus himself on God alone. That is worthy of honor. He was chosen out of all the people of all time, to baptize Jesus Christ, God Incarnate, when God wanted to show us what we need to do....and that is worthy of honor. God honored him with that function...to baptize Christ in His Human Form, and that is worthy of honor. He also was imprisoned for telling the truth to Herod. That was worthy of honor. No other men were willing to speak the truth to him. He also suffered a horrible death of being beheaded, out of jealousy and vengeance from Herod's mistress (his brother's wife) because she didn't like hearing the truth. That was worthy of honor. You slander this man very honored by God when you insinuate he is idolized. He is honored and venerated, not idolized. Terminology counts.

So many people honour John the Baptist because he was a faithful servant of God. He was also the person to baptize Jesus.

I don't know what you mean by idolized. He was a very righteous man in the Bible and was martyred for his faith. For that reason he is someone to look up to.
