In my opinion it was the best course from three terrible options. Option A) we could completely remove ourselves, but then all the hard work and blood shed would be for nothing. Option B) we could leave troop levels at the same rate and get exactly the same results we've been getting. Option C) try to contain and secure the populated areas long enough to build a security force in the region. Afghanistan is a mess though, the elections are blatantly fraudulent, the Taliban/Islamic extremist elements can regroup in Pakistan, and the warlords who are the mayor, judge, and pope in the rural and mountainous areas don't want a strong central government.

We need to build the Afghan army and police, encourage Pakistan to fight terrorist in their north, and put pressure on the international community to increase infrastructure and humanitarian aid.

He surely would have liked to make a different decision. But there is no choice at this point.

I am totally against War but our Soldiers deserve my support and I underwrite sending more Troops but will keep an eye on the promise to withdraw at a certain point.

Afghanistan needs to learn how to protect its Country and when they make the maximum effort to do so, other Countries will support them when necessary.

May all of our Troops come home alive and well.

I really don''t care for it.

I am not really sure what we want to accomplish over there as we can not win this like a war. We are in a policeing operation really. We had to send more troops or get out.

The joint chiefs of staff probably made the decision for him. There could be no immediate pullout because that would make a mockery of the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in this conflict.

There could not be a phased withdrawl. So this is it. A surge.

The mighty hand of OBAMA holdeth back thy mighty waters! .....He's a very disruptive powerhungry manchild. We should have sent 60,000 3 months ago. What a douche, just like Satan in the bible, he's a self made Christ-like savior here to bring utopia with him and he's the father of it of course. Poor sick bastard.
