DID JESUS FULFILL THE MESSIANIC PROPHECIES?

What is the Messiah supposed to accomplish? The Bible says that he will:

A. Build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28).

B. Gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6).

C. Usher in an era of world peace, and end all hatred, oppression, suffering and disease. As it says: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall man learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:4)

D. Spread universal knowledge of the God of Israel, which will unite humanity as one. As it says: "God will be King over all the world—on that day, God will be One and His Name will be One" (Zechariah 14:9).

The historical fact is that Jesus fulfilled none of these messianic prophecies.

Christians counter that Jesus will fulfill these in the Second Coming, but Jewish sources show that the Messiah will fulfill the prophecies outright, and no concept of a second coming exists

Mr Acosta you seem to think you know it all......shame shame, where are your friends now? I see only the secular ones

So tell me, What does Daniel mean when he write "THEN AFTER 62 WEEKS THE MESSIAH WILL BE CUT OFF AND HAVE NOTHING" and the people of the PRINCE (anti-christ) who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. (Done) The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. etc, etc

THE MESSIAH WILL BE CUT OFF MEANS DEATH. BUT WAIT if the Messiah is cut off - could it be that was Yeshua cut off - this is a reference to His Death? Could Isaiah 53 be referring to Yeshua? Of course it is!

    Look at Is 53:10

10 Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,

and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering,

he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

    Stop fighting the Truth!

    Ethan - even the OT.

answer: None - not even the requirement of being born and raised Jewish because his lineage was wrong. There are actually a small number of prophecies about the Jewish Messiah and the story built around Jesus would prove that he wasn't the Messiah. Reasons Jesus was NOT the Jewish Messiah: Divine birth/divinity (the Jewish Messiah will NOT be divine. He will be human.) G-d cannot become human: Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 44:6, Hosea 11:9, Ezekiel 28:2, Numbers 23:19 Performing Miracles – the Jewish Messiah will NOT perform miracles but will accomplish them Taking on the sins of others: no one can take on the sins of others: Deuteronomy 24:16, Exodus 32:30-35, Ezekiel 18:1-4, 20-24; 26-27 Breaking the Sabbath – the Jewish Messiah will be observant. Sacrificed/Rising from the dead: G-d rejects human sacrifice and blood sacrifice is NOT an absolute requirement for the absolution of sin – Deuteronomy 12:30-31, Jeremiah 19:4-6, Psalm 106:37-38, Ezekiel 16:20, Leviticus 5:11-13, Jonah 3:10, Leviticus 17, Leviticus 5:11-13, Numbers 16:47, Numbers 31:50, Isaiah 6:6-7, Jeremiah 7:22-23, Psalm 51:16-17 Prophecies Unfilled – the Jewish Messiah will accomplish ALL the prophecies in one lifetime. The Jewish Messiah cannot trace his lineage through Jehoiakim, Jeconiah, or Shealtiel, because this royal line was cursed (I Chronicles 3:15-17, Jeremiah 22:18, 30). But according to Matthew 1:11-12 and Luke 3:27, Jesus was a descendant of Shealtiel Communion – the ‘last supper’ – No Jew would ever call upon followers and fellow Jews to even symbolically consume blood and flesh. Jesus is worshiped – the eternal covenant between G-d and Jews is that Jews will worship G-d and only G-d and G-d does not become a man. • Daniel 9:24-27 KJV Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. (25) Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. (26) And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. (27) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Jewish sources widely believed the Messiah would appear about 2000 years ago. If not Jesus, then who fulfills that part?

Jesus apparently fulfilled all the prophecies up to the "suffering servant" parts of Psalms 22 and Isaiah 52-53.

The only way a Messiah could be a "Suffeing Servant" and Conquerer, ruing with "a rod of iron: is for Messiah to suffer first, die for the sins of the world, then be resurrected, and return to take authority over all nations.

We Evangelical Christians believe this Jew is our only hope to get to heaven.

First, Joseph had a direct lineage to King David, but so was Mary a direct descendant through Solomon, not Jechoniah, then through Nathan, eventually Heli, the father of Mary.

Secondly, the fact the two were betrothed meant the union was sealed, broken only by divorce, according to Jewish law. The marriage had not been completed when Mary as a virgin conceived Jesus by the Holy Spirit.

Nowhere is the heavenly Messiah confined to one human lifespan. The Heb. for "Messiah" only occurs in a few verses of Daniel. The heavenly Messiah, not of flesh and blood, was to arrive and save all Israel in the "70th Week" of Daniel 9. Jesus was not involved with rebuilding the prophesied Temple of Herod, but will show up in Jerusalem during the last "week" of prophetic time. The Third Temple will be desecrated, Jesus not having anything to do with it. He will instead occupy David's throne under David's tent tabernacle for 1000 years.

Jesus fulfilled all prophecies leading up to His arrival and ministry on Earth, and will return to complete all prophecies concerning Him and the Antichrist and millennial rule on Earth. Of course Jews should be intent in disclaiming New Testament prophecies and reports, misinterpreting OT prophecies in favor of a natural mortal man, but will stop doing that at the end of the Gentile Era.

The restored Solomon's original Temple did indeed have a Heb. "mashiyach" for that achievement, Nehemiah, by decree of Darius and other kings supporting, many interfering, until dedicated and known as "Herod's Temple".

The Third Temple is being planned, priest trained, to be built in Daniel's "70th week" or last 7 years called "End Times", with great tribulation.

what Judaism didnt understand Then, what people dont understand NOW is that men do not interpret the prophecies correctly.

some peoples confuse the prophecies of the birth of christ with his 2nd coming.

others definitely misunderstand how world peace and Mental peace are different

Jesus clearly had apostles that describe a PEACE without understanding, that come from "above". jesus while he was yet alive taught that peace happens through love and forgivness, NOT war. it it happens by war, then everyone dies.

and in war it only the strong that survive, not necessarily the righteous. for it is also written NOT by Power but by my spirit saith the lord.

universal knowledge! are you kidding. by the time jesus was 40, the entire world had seen his glory and the miracles of the Father. (he was 40 when he died not 33)

within a few years the gospel of the apostle had reached every continent of the world. Resurrected beings rose from teh grave throughout the world Angels declared the death and resurrection of christ among many nations by themselves

before any christian or atheist declares the truth to be conclusive, one must discern which prophecy pertained to his life, and which pertained to his death and with pertained to the millenium and the 2nd coming

Israel is a promised paradise. It's not middle eastern property.

The 2ND TEMPLE was still standing when Jesus was alive, and for 35+ years more after he died. Are you really suggesting that the Jews of Jesus' time expected the temple to be destroyed and rebuilt a 3rd time by the messiah they were so eagerly anticipating?

The only temple that will be rebuilt is the body. Jesus said to the priests "tear down this temple, and in 3 days I will raise it up again." And they misunderstood Jesus, because the temple Jesus was referring to was his body.

Jesus is the living WORD OF GOD made flesh. He is the messiah, and he foreshadowed our own everlasting Holy kingdom. "The Kingdom of God is within you."

No cross, no crown. Those are God's terms if you want to be resurrected from the dead and have the everlasting Kingdom of God in a glorified, Holy, and perfected body.

Doesn't that make more sense than separating pots and pans and dairy and meat and the million other goofy things Jews do?

And do Jews even connect that they are rejecting Jesus' lineage through Joseph based on the virgin birth? They either have to accept the lineage through Joseph, or affirm the miracle of Jesus' conception in order to deny Jesus' line. What a pickle God put you in.

yes, even if the another messiah were to come now he still wouldn't complete all prophecy cause it's kinda too late. If the Bible doesn't speak of Messiah coming twice then why does the Bible seem to describe two different settings?

    You've asked this many times.

    You don't listen.

    A-Jesus WAS the third temple

    B-Jews are back

    C-This was spiritual

    D-This was spiritual

There are over 300 that Jesus fulfilled and I gave these to you.

Did you even take a second to look-old and new test prophecies Jesus fulfilled!!

What if you are wrong and Jesus Is/Was the messiah and you in your stubbornness didn't take the real time to find out???What if?

All good points, however, it should be pointed out that he never claimed to be the messiah, or that he was accomplishing any of those things. All the stuff about him being the messiah was added by Christians who remembered and wrote in an expansive way. Nevertheless his teachings of faith, love, and forgiveness are a sound guide to a spiritual life, for a Jew or a gentile. Just do, don't talk about it.
