solve for x, can anyone help?

    Wow, it's been a long time since I see a log problem ^^ thanks for sharing :D

    I would do these steps:

    log (x) + log (x+2) = 1

    log (x+2) = 1 - log (x)

    10^[log (x+2)] = 10^[1 - log (x)]

    x + 2 = 10/x

    x^2 + 2x - 10 = 0

    solving this gives you (approx.)

    x = 2.317 And x = - 4.317

    But the negative one is not valid because the log of a negative doesn't exist ;)

    So the final solution is *root*(11) - 1, which is approximately 2.317
