Is it true that if you have Time Warner digital TV service, Time Warner gives you 100 free HDTV channels?

I only get these channels on my flat screen tv (hdtv ready). I do not have any antennas.

I do not get these extra channels on my other older non flat screen TV

Update:

I'm subscribed to basic digital TV service from Time Warner. (No box just cable through the wall) and after doing a "auto scan" I get all kinds of digital channels like golf, tnt,c. cnn, etc.

Does anyone have the same situation? Is this because of this "free hdtv channels"?

I pay only 10 or 15 dollars for this basic digital tv from time warner.

You're picking up those other digital channels on your new TV's QAM tuner, which your old tv doesn't have. If you ask Time Warner about it, they will probably claim that it is impossible to receive any HD content from them without a converter box, but we both know that is not true.
