Outlook Plain Text/Rich Text/HTML question?

First I want to explain the reason why this happens. The system presumes that the user has selected their originating email format based on what their computer & client software supports, in addition to personal preferences. For instance, individuals using text-only terminal services will not be able to read rich-text and HTML emails. If you think that these users don't exist anymore, think again. University campuses are full of them. People also use these preferences as a security technique against malware, since it's a lot easier to embed hidden nasties in HTML than it is in plain text. Outlook assumes that if the sender sent their email to you in plain text, that they have a good reason for wanting/needing their replies in the same format. Changing your reply format is unwise and may annoy the recipient, so Outlook doesn't make it easy.

You didn't specify what edition of Outlook you were using (Outlook Express? or the full Outlook?) nor what version (XP? 2003? 2007?) but it doesn't really matter: there is no way to do this in the functionality provided to you by Outlook.
