I agree on Signs, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and Independence Day.

Here's one of my favorites that nobody has mentioned Earth Girls Are Easy Funny Story, great cast, not your usual UFO story.

this is a good film Close encounters.

Fire in the Sky was by far the best and the most realistic--the last 15 minutes are incredibly creepy
