Wow. This is definitely serious. People just presume that your profile picture is supposed to to look similar to you. I know exactly how you feel. My problem is vice versa, I use white profile pictures usually but I'm actually black. They're either using simple sense and are not considering this option or are randomly guessing.

Past conflict between China and Japan in the 19th and 20th century probably has something to do with it.

Chinese and Japanese are not races, they are nationalities. There is no such thing as the Chinese race, or the Japanese race, or the American race, or the Russian race. There is the Asian race, and the Caucasian race (among others). Chinese and Japanese are both Asian so they are the same race.

I'm not sure if they are racist but the two countries and their people really dislike each other.

Why? Just look up the history of the countries.

The Japanese are racist to more then just the Chinese. They still use no foreigner signs on some of their shop windows.
