Improving our political landscape?
What do you think we can do to make discussions regarding public policy less polarized and more productive at finding common ground and setting policy we can come to a majority agreement upon?
While it might be satisfying to say get rid of all the X's or kick the Y's to the curb, or blame this or that group out I'm kind of looking for a REAL answer. It seems to me that the various media markets have driven our nation into easily manageable "camps" and I'm curious to see what anyone has as any useful notions or ideas on how to counteract / diffuse that trend.

I have been waiting for a long time for people to get tired of the bickering going on these days.
Forget party lines for a moment and think about why and for what we elect representatives?
Another question - who do you think should our elected officials answer to - party, constituants or donors?
Without real good election law reforms, nothing will change ever...

Kick the X's to the curb. Then hope for gridlock. Don't blame the media, they aren't the ones that are voting. Congress is voting down party lines, the party in power is at fault. They want to trample the rights of the minority party.

Simple: open your ears and eyes to the other side.
I was forced to for a while because my entire family is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum as I am (they are all very liberal. I'm very conservative). Now I enjoy hearing what they have to say. All sides have something smart to contribute when they aren't yelling like children.
