  • Did they really clear Acorn?

Does anyone know if this article is accurate - it would seem that Acorn is cleared of any wrong-doing and that the video(s) were apparently creatively edited?

  • Farmville neighbor bug?

When I play farmville, it seems to visit one of my neighbor's farms "first" before letting me go anywhere or do anything, I have to return home every time.

Has anyone had this happen and is there a way to fix this bug?

  • Improving our political landscape?

What do you think we can do to make discussions regarding public policy less polarized and more productive at finding common ground and setting policy we can come to a majority agreement upon?

While it might be satisfying to say get rid of all the X's or kick the Y's to the curb, or blame this or that group out I'm kind of looking for a REAL answer. It seems to me that the various media markets have driven our nation into easily manageable "camps" and I'm curious to see what anyone has as any useful notions or ideas on how to counteract / diffuse that trend.

  • short animation stumper?

I'm having trouble finding a short animation, it's a short animation - the name of which escapes me, where a guy is given 1 hour to create a virtual town for his (girlfriend/wife) to walk around in. He finishes just as she awakens, and as she withdraws from the virtual town he's created you discover that she is a patient in a future virtual reality neural trauma recovery ward.

Anyone know of this film and/or have a link?

  • Detox from Politics / Religion?

How does anyone recommend recommend "detoxing" from political science and related reading. In researching matters, it seems there is a point of diminishing return, reading / knowing - a little too much, and find that although being reasonably well informed about a few subject matters, that it has VERY little value to me objectively.

In my personal case, being concerned about the direction of the nation after 9/11, and perhaps over-familiar with the inner workings of the apparatus in the previous administration.

Worse, that to my mind, is that it seems very much the case that like Frankenstein's monster - once animated, we find that the real monstrosity is in equal parts the creation and the creator.

There are three factors which really brought this question to a head and why I'm asking this question.

    1. Ideological impairment, where people parrot various talking points without having the slightest clue they are being spoon-fed.

    2. Intolerance - here again spoon-feeding radicalism whether religious or racial intolerance it seems all pretty much not a productive effort to try to illuminate against.

    3. Institutional ignorance - the other thing that just is a "kick in the cajones" , is almost a righteous indignation of many contributors around the concept of BECOMING educated on the matters that are of importance.

While certainly it's possible to enjoy a good discussion and a debate on matters but hearing my own echo is as unsatisfactory as is the infantilism and ignorance is disheartening - to say the least.

As many here would likely not want to admit themselves, there are some contributors - I'd like to think, myself included, who make some small emotional investment in their writing, which is the "fix" - after all.

I certainly understand that asking this question IN the forum could be considered right up there with going to a Vegas seeking ideas on how to stop gambling, but perhaps the answers will be useful for more than just myself.

So I'll ask., how has anyone else stepped away from this or other forums or any other similar "time-sink" and just disconnect?

  • What's Your Opinion of Objectivism?

What is everyone's opinion of Objectivism - (Ayn Rand), I'd like to hear some from some folks regarding the positive and negative aspects that they either have personally experience with or with which they there is a misunderstanding about. Be as detailed as you would like - if you care to be detailed at all.

    Thanks very much

  • What music does this video sample from?

Ok. There is a new video produced by CatholicVote.com, here ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2CaBR3z85c ), does anyone know what the name of that tune is?

It sounds a little bit like something from Phillip Glass, but I can't put my finger on it.

  • Help an old friend?

I have an old friend, Joe in NJ. He's had a rough few years and has fought back from some hard times, we both had a scares with cancer (how we met) some years ago and while we both recovered physically, he has not had the best luck with relationships, to say the least. He's looking for depth and not finding it too easily.

He's gotten is work life squared away, gotten his health squared away and is doing much better in that department, but still is a little too shy for his own good. Just got back from NJ on business and he was doing well but not meeting anyone he likes.

I don't live there anymore and so really can't recommend any places but I was curious if anyone else knows where I can recommend he could meet women about his age (37), around Princeton.

  • Fujifilm A330 / A310 Cradle Interface?

Ok. I have a question regarding an old A310 Fuji cradle, where it seems to have a slightly non-standard USB interface on the back. I was wondering if this was just a version of USB cable I don't know about and if anyone else knew what the version of USB would be?

  • I'm taking suggestsion?

Ok. Here's a creepy problem that I'd like to get some input on. I have a stalker, she's calling multiple times to my voice-mail and does not want to reveal her identity.

My question is - how might I engage her / ask questions which might help me get some clues as to her identity.

I know the proper thing is to simply give people with a "private" number their privacy and not answer but this issue has peaked my interest in solving this problem.

  • Bucks Party!?

Ok. Here's my question, I'm from the Midwest US, and my brother recently moved to Melbourne, Australia and then up and found his bride, so now they're getting married and I'm going to be the best man, which is good.

If this was up here, I have a good idea what would probably work, but what passes for a REALLY good bachelor/bucks party down in Australia - BTW, I've never been there so I've got no clue about customs etc - my knowledge is pretty much limited to that I know it's called a bucks party rather than a bachelor's party and I'm aware that for a price most everything physical is legal.

Also, our father and her stepdad will want to attend

A cousin of mine was like , "Food, Booze and Hot Women" what else do you need, my future brothers in-laws (who seem a little ...domesticated) and were actually suggesting Golf and Maybe Booze but no Women? We're all in our mid 30's.
