Can you play Ultima Online for free?

There are over 300 free servers setup by players. They cover a huge range. PKill, no PKill, straight UO, modified beyond recognition, easy with tons of freebies, or really hard to advance, crowded, or so empty that there is actually WILDERNESS to go build a house in.

I play on a really small shard that is adult-run, hard gains, no pkill (but they do have an arena for challenges), and its really quiet. There is actually wilderness that I can build a house and have no neighbors anywhere near me. But it still has enough players to get up a hunting party to do the champions.

You can download the games client program for free from the companies server, update it, then instead of going to the pay servers just point it at a free one. Most of the shards have instructions on how to do that.

Yes you can play it for free. Most of them are so over customized that it's hardly even the real game itself. That is why I prefer a real-like shard (just like the paid servers, but free) like Ultima Eclipse.

It even supports the latest client and the newest 3d clients (KIngdom Reborn and Stygian Abyss).

I would go with them.

Now this is why I come here, I didn't know such a thing existed and I have been playing that on the PC in different version since the 386 version came out.
