Does any body know where to buy Christmas llights that are worth having?

The lights I have been buying last two years at best, most only last one season and will not work when you pull them out for the next year.

How cheap are these lights? I've bought inexpensive lights at Target, Walmart, Costco and Home Depot and they've working fine for 6+ years. Some have finally started to go out, so I'm thinking of switching over to LEDs.

Perhaps when purchasing you should look for "commercial grade" lights. These will have thicker wires and possibly locking mechanisms on the bulbs.

It's not where you buy them. It's the fact that companies make electronics to go out or be outdated by the time the following year comes around. Things just aren't made like they used to be.

Most light sets will get damaged during storage but it's not necessarily the whole strand. It's usually just a bulb that has gone out or been busted. That's why the kits come with extra bulbs. Before you trash the strands, try finding the dud bulb first. If you're good at electrical stuff, you can also splice strands together so that an entire one works.

My recommendation is that you don't spend a bunch of money on them because they are just not worth it. Obviously, don't buy the cheapest ones either but buy ones you like, that measure well for what you need and that you won't feel angry about when you have to trash them.
