It really depends on your family.
As a family we play Mario Kart which is really good for the group.
We also have:
Wii Music - great for playing music together, always a good laugh
Family Ski Resort - only a 2 player game, but can be fun with the adults in the family
Carnival Games - always a competetion
Boom Blox - good for 2 players
Wii Sports - the ultimate family game
