My microwave malfunctioned and continued to work with the door open.?

We just got a new microwave and I'm not really so sure how to use it but I managed to get it to heat some food. I decided that I'd set the food for too long so I opened the door but the microwave carried on working. :( I shut the door again straightaway. Will it have done anything to me? I get nervous about all this radiation damage stuff!

Update:

Thanks. No need to be rude though - was only wondering as I heard it was dangerous! :(

well micro waves will just cook you. If you didnt feel it burn then you didnt get hit by anything you're fine. But if you want to get it looked at, that may be a smart move. You're asking yahoo answers for this lol

32 microwaves don't even give off enough radiation to Power a low-tech Mobile phone. Honestly. The microwaves sent out by the oven are NON-IRONISING, therefore, there's no cancer risks. The only risk is that the radiation will have heated up something near you. Which it didn't. So stop being stupid.
