what has been the most unusual present you have received?
There were lots of great presents but have to thank my ex (not easy) for the unusual-----a book of swimming pool tickets. Only attend occasionally but probably wouldn't if I didn't have the book.

When we were first married, my husband gave me a very small pocket knife with a mother of pearl handle. It was pretty, but I thought it was a pretty lousy gift. I was expecting jewelry or something romantic. I put it on my key chain and guess what? I found out that that little knife came in handy at least once a week. I carried it for over 25 years. Unfortunately, after 9/11 I didn't think to leave it at home before I went to the airport and it was taken away from me at airport security. When I got back home, I immediately went out and replaced it.

In the 70's my husband bought me a necklace. It was a hard wire and had bull horns on it. Between the horns was a little box with perfume gel in it. It was the most unusual piece of jewelry I ever had and man did that stuff stink! I wore it one time and it really hurt my neck and about gagged me with the smell. It's the thought that counts! But what WAS he thinking?

I got a unicycle when I was 12 from my folks but I never could ride it and after falling off several times I left it in the garage and when I went away to college my parents gave it away. Dont miss it, wont be trying that again.

My father got me some really pretty steel balls with pandas painted on them. When you play with them they tinkle. My father wrote me a note with them, that I cherish. I was in the process of learning how to sail at the time. My father was in the Navy and always had sail boats but, I was always just a passenger, not a sailor.
The note says:
"If you are going to be a sailor, you'll need a pair of these when the going gets rough. Like any man's, you can listen to them when played with. Love, Dad"
I lost my father Dec. 2nd of last year. I am so grateful that I kept this note. It was the most wonderful gift I have ever received.
Source(s): Leave it to my father to give me what I failed to be born with! LOL! God, I loved that man. What a wonderful father he was. - 1 decade ago

A huge wrench a friend gave me to use on a bicycle I once owned. I never used the wrench. When I later got rid of the bike, the wrench went with it.

Three stuffed frogs dressed up as a Mariachi band.
It came in the mail without a card or return address.
I guess I should be glad it wasn't a bomb.
But I'm not.
